18 Times Lena Dunham's Instagram Was So Damn Relatable

Nov 26 2015 - 9:00pm

Lena Dunham has everything a serious girl-crush needs: humor, a killer wardrobe, a successful career, a dog, and a hilarious Instagram account that constantly has you thinking, "Seriously? Me too!" While most of Hollywood uses social media to take you behind the scenes of glamorous parties you will never be invited to, Lena takes you behind the front door of her apartment . . . and invites you in to stay a while. Besides her witty quotes [1] and adorable romance with Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff [2], Lena's relatable personality is what we love most about her. So in honor of our favorite Girl, we've rounded up some of her best Instagram photos that'll make you feel like you're not alone in those quirky day-to-day habits.

When she didn't prepare well for the gym.

Lena took to social media to make a joke about that second of sheer terror you experience when you realize you forgot an essential workout item at home. "Late to @tracyandersonmethod & forgot my workout clothes so had to snag a size large bra and size small pants (wrong in myriad ways)," Lena captioned this photo. "But do we soldier on? Yes, yes we do because we want to be a strong & happy lady #largebrasmallpantscantlose."

When she acknowledged that there is nothing quite as satisfying as a midday nap.

Lena became solid proof that you are never too old for a catnap when she posted this photo with the caption, "A nap a day keeps the doctor away (or is a sign of depression) #girlsseason5 #trailertime #lunchnaps."

When she realized that being reunited with your favorite animal is one of life's greatest pleasures.

Because dogs can be a girl's best friend too, Lena posted this photo of her and her canine, Lamby, with the caption, "Ain't no sunshine when he's gone."

And when she still loved said animal after it ruined all of her things.

"It's amazing you can still love something so much when it's thrown up on everything that matters to you," Lena wrote on Instagram of Lamby.

When her sisterly bond was all kinds of sweet.

You fight with your sister about sharing clothes and keeping secrets from your parents, but there is nothing like those moments of pure love between tight siblings. Lena posted this photo of her and her sister, Grace, with the cute caption, "A sister is safety."

When she almost lost her sh*t while standing near a reality star.

Lena is a star in her own right, but she adorably freaked out when she posted this photo of herself standing near Kim Kardashian [3] with the caption, "And thank you to @campsucks for capturing the pure glee of this moment. I especially enjoy the gentleman to the right. Also so happy Kim is supporting Bruce- and everyone's right to exist in their truest form. Righteous lady!"

When she had too much of a good thing — and didn't apologize for it.

Lena had a "death by hotdog hamburger combo" in this snap, because sometimes you need a cheat day (or week).

When her shorts game was ALL of us while sitting down.

Since there is no escaping the expanded thigh while sitting down in any capacity, Lena decided to capture it and wrote, "springtime means shorteralls #nothighgap."

When she had an empowering day at the gym and wanted to empower others, too.

In your love-hate relationship with the gym, you can't help but feel like a total badass on those days when you absolutely kill it. Lena documented her sweaty success with this photo, saying, "Promised myself I would not let exercise be the first thing to go by the wayside when I got busy with Girls Season 5 and here is why: it has helped with my anxiety in ways I never dreamed possible. To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression: I know it's mad annoying when people tell you to exercise, and it took me about 16 medicated years to listen. I'm glad I did. It ain't about the ass, it's about the brain. Thank you @tracyandersonmethod for showing me the light (and @bandierfit is where I bought my Florida mom inspired workout look.) #notsponsored #stillmedicated."

When she needed a Coke STAT.

When you need a refreshing Coca-Cola, nobody can blame you for the things you say and do until you get one. "I yelled 'who do I have to f*ck to get a glass bottle coke around here!?'" Lena hilariously captioned this pic. "And it happened, and I didn't have to f*ck anyone #lucky #locationscout photo credit @ilandress."

When her Throwback Thursday photo captured something that actually matters: food.

While everyone loves to post cute baby snaps and artsy pictures from that Summer abroad, sometimes you need a little something different. Lena knew what to do when she uploaded this photo and captioned it simply, "Throwback to last Thursday."

When her love of pizza took over her wardrobe.

"@campsucks I know pizza is a clam but the facts are the facts . . . #enjoyyourpizza," Lena wrote. Preach!

When it was Wednesday and she wore pink.

Since Mean Girls [4] came onto the scene in 2004, you probably work bits of pink into your outfits without even realizing it, and Lena looked totally fetch while doing just that. "Shorty shorts with a winter coat is the Wednesday look," Lena wrote alongside three heart emoji.

When she literally could not deal with a long workday.

You've all had those days when the midday slump starts at 9 a.m., and Lena feels your pain on a very real level. She captioned this snap, "Writer's rooms are places where people work very hard, their eyes full of light CC: @campsucks."

When she took pictures while FaceTiming with her boyfriend.

Jack looked blissfully unaware that still shots were being taken.

When her outfit, hair, and makeup were on point and she had to document it.

Sometimes you can't help but wonder, "If you get all dressed up and don't take a photo, did it even happen?" Lena captured this selfie after attending a party in honor of her Elle magazine cover in January.

When she channeled Snooki and admitted to her love of leopard print.

You can deny it, but everyone goes through at least one leopard phase in their life. Lena owned up to hers with this bathroom selfie, captioned, "Too much leopard is never enough. Love to @toujourstoi_familyaffairs."

When she based all of her life choices on Beyoncé.

Most of the world looks to Queen Bey for guidance on all things, and Lena is hilariously no different. She posted this photo of herself wearing a "Can I live?" sweatshirt with the epic caption, "WWBD (what would Beyoncé do?)."
