Lorde [1] hit the beach in her native New Zealand with an old classmate named Tim Teesdale last week. The singer walked through the waves in a blue bikini on Ngarunui Beach after watching her pal surf from the back of a car. Lorde shared an Instagram photo of Tim [2] that day with a touching caption: "Tim has been my friend since we were 13; he's a nature wizard and a deep thinker, and he doesn't talk a lot but pretty much everything he says is a poem," she wrote. "He also thinks most things I do are deeply uncool and for that I'll probably love him forever." She posted another shot of the picturesque landscape [3] that was captioned, "God I love where I live."

Last time we saw Lorde, she was attending the Met Gala in NYC with her celebrity friends Taylor Swift [4], Florence Welch, and Ansel Elgort, all of whom took turns signing the cast she was wearing on her arm [5] due to a broken bone. Before that, she returned to New Zealand for another beach day [6] in February, this time wearing a red two-piece with friend Justin Warren.
