Matt Damon: Philip Seymour Hoffman Was a "Beautiful Person"

Feb 4 2014 - 2:40pm

Matt Damon [1] was on Good Morning America today to talk about his role in The Monuments Men, a historical drama directed by George Clooney [2]. Before he shared details on the film, Robin Roberts asked Matt how he was handling the sudden death of Philip Seymour Hoffman [3], who tragically passed away [4] on Sunday. Matt and Philip worked together on The Talented Mr. Ripley, which was released back in 1999. "He's one of the best actors that ever lived . . . without a doubt," Matt said. "And he was an even better person. He was a beautiful, beautiful person." Watch above to see what Matt had to say, and make sure to read why there was so much more to Philip than just acting [5].
