Matthew McConaughey Accepts His Globe in Familiar Form

Matthew McConaughey made a handsome sight when he walked the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globes on Sunday in LA. Matthew won one of the biggest awards of the night — best actor, drama — for his lead role in Dallas Buyers Club. He beat out Chiwetel Ejiofor, Idris Elba, Tom Hanks, and Robert Redford for the trophy. When he accepted his award, Matthew left his fans smiling by opening with his catchphrase, "Alright, alright, alright," and ending with his other famous aphorism, "Just keep livin'." Interestingly enough, Matthew's first words on film were "alright, alright, alright" in Dazed and Confused.

Matthew has won serious critical acclaim and already a slew of awards for his role in his latest flick, including the Desert Palm Achievement award from the Palm Springs International Film Festival and eight honors from various film critics' associations. On Thursday, when the Academy Award nominations are announced, Matthew will find out if he will be honored at that award show. If he is, it will mark his first Oscar nomination.
