Michael Bublé [2] upset a lot of people on Monday when he posted a photo on Instagram of himself posing in front of a woman wearing short shorts [3], and now he wants the world to know he's sorry. Michael issued an apology [4] on Friday, telling Us Weekly, "I do not court controversy, but I realize that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue. It hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being . . . I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive. That was not and is not my intention. Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honored and revered. I've spent my life believing that and will continue to do so."
The photo in question shows part of the woman's butt, which Michael captioned, "There was something about this photo lu took, that seemed worthy of Instagram," accompanied by numerous booty-inspired hashtags. "Lu" seems to be Michael's wife, Luisana Lopilato, who took the photo while on a family vacation in Miami. And while Michael now insists it was all in good fun, not everyone took it so lightly. The singer was met with harsh criticism on social media, with many fans tweeting that his behavior was shameful. "You're disgusting," one Twitter user wrote, while another said, "Did you ask her permission to post that? Would you say what you hashtagged to her face?" Other people, however, did come to his defense. "So he's admiring a nicely shaped butt. Big deal!" one Instagram user wrote, while another expressed her place on "Team Michael." See the singer's Instagram below. What do you think of the photo?
