After Pamela Anderson learned she was cured of potentially fatal liver disease Hepatitis C, she celebrated the exciting medical news as only she could: posting a nude photo [2] to Instagram. The photo, which appears to be a throwback to a sunny trip to Cannes, France, proudly proclaims "I am CURED!!!" in the caption. The actress and prominent PETA activist told People in September [3] that she has been fighting the disease, which she contracted in 2002 [4] after sharing a tattoo needle with then-husband Tommy Lee, with a regimen of FDA-approved antiviral medication.
There isn't a vaccine [5] for the disease just yet, but extremely expensive treatments [6] like the one Pam was on have been yielding very positive results. She made sure to call out the unfortunately costly downside of getting Hep C treatment in her caption, saying, "I pray anyone living with Hep C can qualify or afford treatment.
