Paris Checks Herself Into Jail Early!!!

Never one to let another's headline overpower her own, Paris Hilton made herself the biggest story of last night by reporting to serve her jail sentence after leaving the MTV Movie Awards, two nights earlier than scheduled. She issued the following statement:

"I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. During the past few weeks, I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes. This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence."

TMZ caught the video (Kathy Hilton's window conspicuously left open so photographers could get the shot) of Paris getting driven into the facility. To hear more details of Paris' next 23 days and last night on the town just

Naturally, the heiress looked somber and scared as she reported for her time in the clink. For the next 23 nights, Paris will be in the big house and contrary to earlier reports, she will spend 23 hours/day in solitary confinement. I assume some feisty photogs will do their very, very best to get pictures during that one free hour every day.

So much for her last night out. Paris' time at the MTV awards seemed decidedly sucky. Consensus was she looked great, but after an awkward red (pink) carpet interview with SuChin, Sarah Silverman took some low blows at P in her opening monologue. I'm sure that Paris is used to being the punchline (how could she not), but Sarah's jabs seemed a touch unnecessary. The only other notable mention of Hilton during the night was when Dane Cook joked about how Paris left in a huff and checked herself into jail early. Funny cause it's kind of true.

I read this on Yahoo earlier this morning. I was definitely surprised!

This whole "checking into jail early" is a publicity stunt, more reason for her to be the headline story and still in the limelight, and so people could feel sorry for her. I DO NOT FEEL SORRY FOR PARIS! she's done, said, and acted so dirty for the past couple of years. She talks down to people as if only people of money and status deserve to be in her company. 23 days IS NOTHING so I wish people would jump off the Paris bandwagon b/c she's going to jail.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm just excited about the prospect of having three whole weeks of no news about her.....although it will probably be more like two weeks, because they'll report for a few more days, and then a few days before she's about to get out.

paris did go out driving, twice, after being arrested. the only reason she stopped was because she got sentenced to 45 days. lindsay's basically doing the same as paris did.

I can't tell whether she's actually being responsible or just headline hogging. Probably headline hogging...and I was hoping she'd learned something.

i dont know why people keep complaining about what Sarah Silverman said. She made a joke,'s not like people aren't already saying that crap about paris, she just said it to her face, publicly...karma came back to paris for telling brandon davis to call lindsay lohan a firecrotch on tape, she loves to laugh at other people but when the jokes on her, all of a sudden we're suppose to feel bad for her. well, i dont.

Paris kinda started this whole celebutante party paparazzi thing so I think she should end it by changing her wild ways...going to jail and admitting she did wrong is the first step, I give her props although I have never been her biggest fan. She is still a human being.

I think Sarah Silverman's name should be added to the Popsugar 100 for the MTV movie awards alone!!

oh. to the people who think sarah silverman was rude: have you NEVER seen anything she's done ever? she is ALWAYS offensive. that is her thing. you don't have to like it, but mtv was certainly aware of it when they asked her to host.

Sarah Silverman's jabs at Paris were priceless. She picks on the innocent all the time. Paris came to get sympathy. She knew she'd be picked on. How could she not be? And she wanted to generate last-minute sympathy. The sense that she's facing her issues is B.S. She got a book deal for her prison diaries. Gee. How many million for 23 days alone in a room? It's not like she's getting her butt kicked by female armed robbers. Martha Stewart faced her crime. She didn't write a book about it. She dealt with it like a grown up for much more time than Paris is getting. You cannot compare Martha's decision to Paris'. This is a career boost. She knows that the media created her and has been turning against her. She has always boosted her career by behaving badly. Good riddance. I hope it's 22 days in which no one would mention her. Like celebs 10 or 15 years ago, I'd hope that such behavior would destroy any inkling of a career she may have, but sadly, I know it's not so.

Sh!t. She's just trying to royally kiss some @ss, thinking she'll get out early...If she acts super co-operative and sh!t and they let her out early-Ill be super pissed. The rest of us would not get out for that stuff, neither should she. I dont believe that she has "seen the err of her ways" all. She's self involved to the highest extent and always has been. She only thinks of things that will benefit her and her immediate needs. She's been walking all over town trying to look all inncoent ever since she got this sentence-holding religious books and dressing all conservative, hoping that would sway the public/courts minds. It didn' she's pulling out the big guns and last resort by kissing ass and going in early, expecting to get a "well, she volunteered and is sooo co-operative! She doesn't deserve this!! She can go!! As well as-she got here 2 days early-so she leaves 2 days early. She probably has a big event or trip the day she was supposed to get out and it was crowding her schedule-so she did this...

I agree, Sarah Silverman's jokes were too much and so unnecessary.

If she's still there, hasn't she already beat Michelle Rodriguez's time at the same jail? I'm no Parisphile but I think that's plenty unfair!

I'm not the biggest Paris fan but good for her for going to jail early although I can't imagine why anyone would want to go earlier, but who cares maybe she's trying to change? We'll find out when she gets out. Sarah Silverman was really rude to her at the MTV awards.

She's "taking responsibility for her actions" my ass! She was court ordered to go to jail, why is she acting like she had a choice in the matter? Oh yeah and isn't it great how her mom turned her ride to the slammer into a photo op! Can anyone say "White Oprah Volume 2"?
