Paris Gets Visitors, Someone Wants Her Back in Jail

Phew, it's been quite the day of Paris. From learning the surprising news that she was released from jail early this morning, to hearing the press conference about it, to getting a lovely statement from Paris herself, there's been no escaping the story. So here's an update.

You'll be happy to hear (heh, maybe) that Paris has received her first visitors to her house arrest -- her parents, Rick & Kathy Hilton. According to Extra they're "very happy" and "glad to have her home." I assume her friends will start filing in to hang out at chez Paris tonight.

Not everyone is as happy as the Hiltons, however. City Attorney Rick Delgado released a (lengthy) statement about the situation. Here's an excerpt:

Today I was extremely troubled to learn that the Sheriff's Department has decided to release Ms. Hilton from custody just three days after she was admitted to county jail.

My office was not advised of this action. We learned of it this morning through news reports, just like everyone else. Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds.

Now we've learned that Delgado has filed an official motion for Paris to return to jail and finish out her sentence. Well, someone wants attention. Whatever happens with Paris from here, it sounds like it won't be boring!

I lost my sister and my brother-in-law they died on a motorcycle, if they had not been drinking they would still be here, this is kinda reverse but they were not the only ones to suffer, the kid that hit them{ it wasnt his fault, he was only 18 on top of it } has to live with this thing every day of his life and i know it has 2 be horrible for him, they had a 16 month little girl, so many people suffered.and all because of drinking and driving.people have choices a paris has more than most of us!and drinking and driving is taking away an innocent persons right to life if theres a bad out come!!

The DA is not doing this for attention. He's trying to send her back because that's his job! My gawd, if he didn't oppose her new sentence the judge would probably report him to the CA state bar! The DA is so doing the right thing and I fully support him!

Isn't there some sort of war going on somewhere? How did this become breaking news from CNN? It's funny, the debate this one woman can spark is unreal!

What kind of example is she setting for her fans just by breathing? A very poor one.

I keep reading people saying driving with a suspended license is not a dangerous offense, but neither is insider trading and Martha Stewart still had to do her time. When she got out people respected her for taking her punishment. It dosen't matter whether it's dangerous or not, it's the law and when you break the law, you have to face the punishment. Her punishment was to go to jail and she weaseled her way out of it because of her money. I do believe that's why people are so mad.

I love how our government can waste all this money, effort and time on this. Do we other things to worry about than Paris and wether or not she goes to jail.

Effing A, what do I have to do to get sentenced to house arrest at Paris's place? I've been itching for a vacation and that seems like just the thing. This waste of space disgusts me more every day and people sticking up for her just send me into a rage. Who gives a damn if she's good for comic relief? Who cares if she's sad or uncomfortable or suicidal. As Pad said, just put her on suicide watch like they do with other prisoners. The girl is a criminal and has been sentenced accordingly. If you feel that jail time is too harsh for people who repeatedly ignore warnings and lesser forms of punishment (suspended licenses, awareness classes, etc.) then by all means, write to your representatives and work to change the law, but the existing law calls for jail time, and I deserve to know that my justice system will not kowtow to people like Paris Hilton just because of her money and influence. And T and Co, I can assure you that I would be pleased as punch if I never saw her face again. Really.

I disagree, because there is often a reason that a licence is supended, as in Paris's case, a DUI. I know someone who is driving sometimes with a suspended license, it was suspended due to medical reasons, they are having "spells" in which their eyesight is affected. Drib=ving with a suspended license doesn't sound that terrible, certainly not the same as a brutal crime, but depending on why the license is suspended, its dangerous and can put many at risk.

I've spent the last 8 year working in the legal field. This has nothing to do with wanting attention or serving any personal purpose. A judge's orders were completely ignored. The sherriff asked the judge prior to her release if he'd change his ruling to remove the part of the order in which he denied her electronic monitoring as an option. THE JUDGE SAID NO. The sherriff completely disregarded A COURT ORDER which is legal and binding and released her anyway. I hope that Sherriff does get charged with contempt. Its about time we stop allowing our legal system to be made a mockery of. I was ashamed and embarassed to be an American yesterday and to be working with the legal system. Delgadillo is simply doing his job. You can say "he wants attention" until you're blue in the face but that isn't the case.

She needs to go back to jail and finish her sentence. this is just insane

divajj- I wasn't criticizing just reitierating what I knew. But wasn't suspending her license her punishment for the DUI instead of jail? She ignores her punishment for the first crime shows she didn't learn anything and didn't plan on following anyones rules. I agree that this attention is wasted time, money, and effort. Tax payers are going to pay the bill for this repeat trial/hearing. Our world would be boring without Paris around, though- for comic relief alone!

Exactly sofi, it's just not a case of driving with a suspended license. Also, I don't want to share the road with people driving with suspended licenses, because there's usually a reason they are suspended, like DUIs!

I know what she did, I guess my personal opinion is just bigger than just Paris... Is driving with a suspended license really a jail-worthy offense? Fine-able, yes but JAIL... I'd rather see crimes like animal cruelty get stiffer jail time than that. Again, MY personal opinion and I do agree with T and co... she is great comedic relief and incredibly easy to watch.

The thing is...That this whole Paris thing is never going to end, because people want to hear about her. She'll always be in the media because everyone wants to see her picture. I don't care how much you say you "hate" her, you still love to see all the stupid things she's doing, and that's why I think she's great. It's comedic relief.

Divajj- she drove twice with the suspension. The first time she signed a paper and even had it in her car the second time. She got off on the DUI charges AS LONG AS she complied to the suspension, probation, as well as taking alcohol awareness (something like that) classes. SHE DID NOTHING- drove and disregarded the suspenion AND also did not sign up for the classes. She probably thought- HA- I beat the system. Wrong, so wrong!
Divajj Divajj 10 years
I'm torn... I see that it is an injustice to have Paris let out after 3 days in jail but let's face it, driving with a suspended license is not a dangerous offense...
sofi sofi 10 years
She needs to go back but I don't think they'll up it back to 45 days. The sheriff's dept is responsible- no matter how much whining the little twit did. As for the Paris lovers- they are probably too busy praying for her and her sensitive arse to be here.

LOL Mill I was looking for T & Ski as well! May be too early for them...they tried to get shady and it's going to backfire, Paris must scared as fuck! She just got out, thought she was good, then BAM, back in the slammer baby!
