Photo of Michael Jackson at His Last Rehearsal at the Staples Center on June 23, 2009

Would You Ask For a Refund or Get the MJ Ticket as a Memento?

Michael Jackson was photographed practicing his performances at the Staples Center on June 23, for what ended up being his last rehearsal before his death. His comeback tour was scheduled to begin July 13 in London, and now AEG is giving ticket holders the choice between getting a full refund or receiving the printed ticket MJ himself supposedly designed as a memento. Tell us what you would do if you had a ticket for a Michael Jackson concert — ask for a refund or get the paper ticket as a memento?

I'd keep it. If for no other reason than it'll be worth more in the future. I think it's a little disingenuous that the promoters are acting like keeping the money will cover their production costs. They're not going to be out money. Insurers sell insurance for big things like this. If the producers didn't have insurance on this event, they deserve to get screwed.

I'd keep the ticket

this is stupid, if you did spend $250 on your ticket, then obviously MJ means a great deal to you and you're going to keep the ticket as memorabilia anyway.

i'm not a die-hard MJ fan or anything...but if i did buy a ticket, i would probably just keep it as a memento. the only reason i'd go would be b/c i was a die-hard fan.

this is utterly ridiculous. cashing in on his death for sure- he needed the money to wipe his debts which is why he did the show. and now even though his life insurance will cover the debts now i think, now the show's not going ahead his people want the money from it anyway. i don't want this to sound disrespectful at all and i think i've risked it but to me it's just ludicrous! if his people had any respect for all the support his fans had given MJ over the years- they'd issue a refund and send them a ticket as a momento too. the tickets were over £100 each... i'd want my money back.

Many of you have really good points. And I agree with most of you. Why can't they get the ticket and partial refund? It's messed up they are already trying to bank on Micheal's death. He would want his fans to have the ticket and their money back. He adored his fans. But hey that's just my opinion. Did anyone see that it states Michael "supposedly" designed the ticket? Did he or didn't he? They should turn Neverland into an amusement Park/Zoo so it can help his children and his debt. I would so go!

My friends mum has a Nirvana ticket framed in her house; it was a concert which was planned on the day he died. Had they already sent tickets out? Or did people only receive confirmations of their orders?

im one of the lucky {also unfortunate} ones who got a ticket for his concert in london around september time, and im sort of wondering wether or not to keep it all get a refund, it could be worth a fair amount in the future....

I would keep the ticket! I wouldn't go so far as to say mj was bigger than elvis I think they were both equally major stars but in different time eras! mj music will live on forever just like elvis music has, and they will forever be known as the king of pop and the king of rock and roll.

I know one person who was going to the concert and he's getting a refund - he was flying to London and everything so the trip was pretty expensive. Getting a refund will help with how much he spent on flights and hotels.
