Mykie, I agree with you about the abortion issue. I don't like how abortion is so common nowadays and I am 99.99% sure that I wouldn't get one, but I think it should be kept legal. Making abortion illegal would cause a lot more problems than it would solve. I'm neutral on the arctic driling issue, although I do think we should decrease our dependence on foreign oil. tess2530 : Do the math....that would put her at 17 and unmarried when Barack was conceived. Guess he's lucky that abortion was not legal back then.... Wow, that statement is just uncalled for, no matter which way you try and spin it.

Here's my big problem with all of this. We really need to as a society discuss Sex and everything good, bad, and ugly that comes attached to it. Sexual Education is often being left out of school. Especially when Sex is being gloried on TV and Movies. Sex obviously is not the enemy but we need to talk to The Younger Generation more. My mom had my step brother when she was 18. One of the first things she said to me was If maybe her mother would have talked to her, teaches her options like condoms, birth control, adoption, abortion etc maybe she would have been more prepared. Being a young parent is a huge responsibility. If all parent's just talked about the truth about Sex then maybe kids will listen. This is the thing though most Republicans don't stand by Sexual Education in the school because of "Religious" beliefs etc. I sure hope Palin is listening and understands.
Funny Joke I saw on another website. "What do you call a candidate who promotes abstinence only sex education?" Grandma! :rotfl: I wish her daughter the very best but I am not impressed with Mrs. Palin at all. I can't for this race to be over...its so stressful.

I completely agree with JennaV, the Republicans would be jumping over Obama or Biden if one of their daughters got pregnant. It's not fair to bring children into the equation, but guess what? Life's not fair, and politics is definitely not. It would be nice to keep the kids out of it, but I don't know if that's possible in today's world. I feel bad for Bristol because of the media scrutiny, but she made her bed and now she has to lie in it (so to speak). I don't think she should be treated as a martyr though because she kept her baby. I doubt her mother would let her abort the child, even if she wanted to, because that would be a bigger scandal if they found out that Sarah Palin's daughter had an abortion even though Sarah is pro-life. And I don't think getting married at 17 is the solution right now (I also don't think that Bristol is the one who came up with that idea), but best of luck to Bristol & Levi regardless.

"There comes a point when you have to weigh" (not weight)

I too am concerned about Palins EXTREME right wing policies. I have a tendency to lean right, but not to the extreme. For instance, I don't AGREE with abortion. For me it's wrong. however, I DO believe that it's a woman's right to choose. I have NO RIGHT to tell someone else what they can or cannot do with their body. I can control me and that's it. 2nd, her ire at domestic drilling. There comes a point when you have to weight the environment and nature against the lives of humans. In this case, taking a few acres of the Alaskan Tundra for domestic oil drilling. Would it be ideal? No, but at some point we have to come up with SOMETHING that gets us OUT of foreign oil. I could go on, but the point is, THESE are the issues people should be paying attention to, NOT whether or not her 17 year old daughter is pregnant. It's completely, 100% without a doubt, irrelevant to the election and the issues.

Of course Obama is "taking the high road". He himself is a product of an unplanned pregnancy. He was born Aug 4 1961. His parents were married Feb 2 1961. Oh and his mother? Well, she was born Nov 29 1942. Do the math....that would put her at 17 and unmarried when Barack was conceived. Guess he's lucky that abortion was not legal back then....

I think that Palin is such an odd choice. My husband laughs at me, but I am convinced that McCain doesn't want to win, but doesn't want to back out. He is probably sick again. My husband showed me a picture of Palin posing naked in her crown and sash. I just find it hard to take McCain picking her as someone that he seriously thinks will help him win.

And there another more important issue -- I'm also waiting to hear what comes of this AIP (Alaska Independence Party a group that seeks, among other things, a vote on whether Alaska should secede from the Union ( -- not to be confused with the Independent Party). ABC has also brought up this issue. To me this sounds like Alaska First and not Country First. There are more important issues than this pregnancy.

I don't give a cr*p about Palin's pregnant daughter, but all the best to her I guess, but I agree, I don't think marriage is the best thing to do. R.I.P: Don :( I hope The Duchovnys are doing ok! and Amy Winehouse is a nut job, there's always something going on with her!

i think that the Palin's are taking this all in stride and that they are doing what they can to make things work out for them. it's interesting to hear all the reports on this - and well - mccain knew about it before he picked her - and that's all you can say about that. i'm thrilled that TT took the #1 spot again this weekend. it was a hysterical movie and i think that it deserves to have more sucecsses! i had a feeling that DD would have that type of situation rather than having an affair. i don't know why - but i kind of got that sense once i heard the story break that it wasn't him cheating. wow - i can't believe that someone would try to sell pictures of hte prince like that. hmm...i wonder where he 'found' the camera and if the pics got leaked. i'm sure that people would have been too afraid to really buy them and publish them. i think that it's nice that jude is participating in this - it's not often that you hear of him getting involved CONGRATS to james - that's wonderful news of his marriage! aww that's a shame about the voice over guy. his voice was probably one of the most recognizable ones out there i'm not surprised about amy's situation. i think that it's only a matter of time that your body has until you're faced with the reprocussions of substance abuse - and she seems to have gone overboard a few times. i kind of feel bad for her in a way - cause she didn't seem to want to make the effort to get clean.

I care absolutely nothing about the daughter's pregnancy. It's too bad abstinence education didn't work for Palin's family, but then again, there aren't great statistics on abstinence education. I imagine the daughter does want to get married but just like in real life, this marriage might end in divorce which is also none of our business. My concerns with Palin are her very rightwing views (obviously only because they conflict with my moderate views) and I don't see how she helps the ticket. I have every respect for her for the record she does hold and I'm sure she's a great mom. I just don't see how she's the best choice for VP.

Dream, I couldn't agree more about the pregnancy. One of my girlfriends got pregnant in HS. Out of a sense of obligation, the father asked her to marry him. She was head over heels for him, always has been, but to him it was obligation. Now, 19 years and 10 kids later she just found out he's been having an affair since day 1. She's devastated. Tell me how that's better than her having raised the child with her parents support (Which they gave her unfailingly?)? It's not. Sometimes NOT getting married is the smart thing to do.

Rumor has it that this is Sarah Palin's 2nd grandchild, and that Bristol Palin is 3 or 4 (rather than 5 months) pregnant.

i'm confused. i thought that there was a conspiracy theory that her youngest son is actually her grandson; her daughter's child when she was 16. So, now her other daughter is pregnant at a young age too?? That's really messed up.

Me too dreamsugar. From what it seems Palin seems okay. As for this Troopgate issue that one is a we shall see. The last thing we need again is another political figure with a serious scandal in the closet like what Cheney has with his Haliburton scandal.
