This speech was amazing. I truly liked the whole DNC, and I hate politics!! BUT, this election is so important so I hope people are making the right choice, rather than picking based on others' opinions.

Thanks Mykie! Sorry for thanking you so late! :)

Anytime my friend! I love to see people (even DEMOCRATS ack! LOL) that study the issues instead of just a party line. It's AWESOME and what democracy is all about. (I was teasing you with the dem remark, my husband is one. Makes for interesting debates in our house lemme tell ya!)

P.S. I don't listen to who celebrities are voting for either, I liked him before this "Obama or die" crap.

Last night was just an incredible moment in history. I am so proud that Barack has come so far against all odds, and I feel vindicated that I have supported him from the beginning. though I am a registered Democrat, I also do not plan to vote along party lines and I will vote for who I think is best based on the issues at hand (in this case I think its Barack). Case in point: And I know I may get flack from some liberal Dems for saying this, but Ronald Reagan ranks as one of my favorite presidents of all time and he was the one of the most conservative Republicans we have ever had. Anyway, congrats to Barack! Here's hoping that we see you in the White House!

That should have read "I look forward to watching the people involved with politics give their speeches," instead of opinions. My bad.

My husband kept watching it over and over and over again last night on Barackobama.com xoso, which is where I will watch it tonight myself now that the convention is over. I look forward to watching the people involved with politics give their opinions, and being able to skip over all the celebrity falderal.

Is there anywhere where I can watch this speech, cos it sounds amazing, and even though I'm not American, I want Obama to win!
Mykie7 Mykie7 8 years
Oops, hit submit too soon I wanted to also say that the last thing we need is another inexperienced person in the white house.

Good for you meg! DO the research, and KNOW your candidate. You can't go wrong for your choice if you do that! YAY FOR EDUCATION LOL And I don't doubt for one iota that he MEANS it when he says he wants change pink, I've never doubted that. What worries me is if he has the know-how and experience to pull it off.

i agree with what mykie said earlier and what brian said too, yes i just wish people would vote on the issues- people who have really studied the candidates and their platforms. i haven't. i am uneducated and i admit it- if i had to vote today i couldn't. i need to do some learning in the next few months. but i do agree the celeb endorsements of obama have become somewhat of a turn off. i'm not saying i wouldn't vote for him if i felt he was the better leader, but still it just leaves me a bit unsettled.

you know what made me change my mind about him while seeing him speak i told my fiance look at him he is honestly speaking from his heart he wants a change, not like the others that go back to their flash cards to remember what sounds good what people want to hear with a blank face, there was several times it look like he wanted to shed a tear but he was strong, btw i have always and will always be a democrat, i feel republicans are there to make the rich richer and the poor poorer, and we should all be equal

Bri, you're right, I have been a republican my WHOLE LIFE, and the current administration has opened my eyes and made me see that it just ISN'T about party lines, it's about issues. That is the one GOOD thing to come out of the Bush administration. As I've said MANY times before I don't know who I'm voting for, but this election, for me at least, will be based 100% on the issues and who I believe will do the job best, NOT on a party line. Let me say that just because I don't like the fact that Obama and his campaign are allowing these celebrities to speak on their behalf, does NOT mean I won't vote for him. That would be very hypocritical of me, since what I've been saying all along is that celebrities shouldn't influence who we vote for. Just had to say that before someone twists my words around.

i didnt cry! just welled up! jeez. lol I'll tell you the part: (clears throat) "But I stand before you tonight because all across America something is stirring. What the naysayers don't understand is that this election has never been about me. It's been about you." I just think thats such a great line.

Yah Marni- I think that there is something big happening. Even if McCain wins, I think that things will be done differently for some reason. But this is the first time that I have been actually interested in knowing all the views and deciding who I agree with more and making my decision off of that rather than just picking the guy running against my dad's choice :D
Marni7 Marni7 8 years
Agreed Brian! My boyfriend's grandfather is a republican and he is even thinking differently now..and his own wife (who is a democrat) wasnt able to change his mind before..just a thought.

The more celebs push all this Obamaness on America the silent conservatives will lean on McCain. Hollywood does not rule America but Christians and Evangelicals. Just because the media shows Obama as the hero does not mean America feels the same way. The media is sooooo onesided lefties but its always a reversal of events.

It's one of those things where you almost wish uneducated (on the views and issues) voters would not vote and that people who were educated did vote. But unfortunately, people can and will vote regardless of what the reason is or why they felt it was the best decision. What's even worse, some people might actually not vote for Barack because Fergie was there. My father is an extreme republican and gets the letters from Bush and everything. He for the first time, is thinking differently about things. Maybe change is what we need. I think to me, if the democratic nominee can make my father think even a little differently, I'm impressed. I just read the speech and got tears in my eyes 1 time and hair stood up 2 times. And that's just from reading it. Pretty amazing speech.

and at the end of the day who CARES why SOMEBODY is voting for their choice, it's nobody's business but that voter. The real question that needs to be asked of the self is why you're voting for WHO YOU CHOOSE to vote for (but clearly an answer to be kept to the self). Everything else is of unimportance.
Mykie7 Mykie7 8 years
Didn't take it that way at all Marni, it's a great question. The answer is I don't honestly know. It's just like the Bush/Gore win. Did Bush REALLY win, or didn't he? We won't ever REALLY know for sure, as much as so many want to say they DO know, there are facts to support BOTH of them winning. Same thing here. Just like I don't know for certain that people who vote for McCain are doing it because they think he's better, I won't know that people are voting for barack because of celebrities. The fact is though that it skews things, and doesn't really give a good picture.
