Back of Carey Mulligan Is Famous Enough For Vogue, but Not Yet Glee Carey Mulligan had the task of modeling dozens of couture looks at the shoot for her cover of October's Vogue. The Money Never Sleeps actress spoke to the magazine about her romance with her costar in the film, Shia LaBeouf, also touching on how she deals with fame and revealing a fondness for Glee. Carey found time to open up to the magazine despite her busy schedule, which includes an upcoming action film with Ryan Gosling and even a cameo on Belle and Sebastian's new track "Write About Love." Carey said: On attending events with Shia LaBeouf: "Posing on the red carpet feels like you’re selling something that has nothing to do with you. If you do it with someone else, it’s like we’re saying, ‘Oh! We come as a pair! Would you like to buy both of us? We’re available for weddings and Bar Mitzvahs!” On her fame: "I want to be in Glee, but I’m told I’m not famous enough to be a cameo yet.” On her fitness routine: "I don’t want to look like an actress; I want to look like a person. Normal people don’t go to the gym six times a week . . .The thinnest I’ve ever been was after I had my appendix out, during the London run of The Seagull. I went down to 112 pounds and realized my brain doesn’t work when I’m that thin, so I can’t do my job. That’s why, when I came out here, I never had that whole Hollywood pressure thing. I never said I wanted to be a lead actress; I never said I wanted to be a film actress. This need to trump everyone bewilders me. I’m only 25. I’m not better than anyone. I just want to watch other people and learn to be good.” On being recognized by fans: "I don’t want to be ‘known’ — I’m afraid of being a ‘personality.’ On a talk show, I feel I should just hold up a sign with the facts on it — and leave. It wouldn’t take more than a minute, and they’d have room for other guests. I want people to not recognize me, to think I’m a different actress, not remember me from what I did previously. If people have all those other pictures and stories associated with you, it’s added shit that means they have to work harder to believe you as a character.” View 5 Photos › Photo 1 Photo 2 Photo 3 Photo 4 Photo 5 Comments qteepie 7 years She annoys me, IDK why but she gets under my skin redchick152 7 years omg, i think my girl crush on carey just got 10 times bigger! she is a true actress and clearly, her main focus is impoving her craft and not being a typical "celebrity." while she's gorgeous, i feel like her look is versatile. she's literally a breathe of fresh air. i'm almost glad she didn't get the girl w/ the dragon tattoo. that movie is SO HYPED UP right now, but chances are its not going to be as good as the original. PiNkY-PiNk 7 years she sounds like a snob to me. "oh it's so hard to be an actress, making so much money, dating shia lebouf and being on the cover of vogue". That's what she sounds like to me. Why isn't she doing little hometown theaters if she doesn't want to be famous? Louie 7 years I think she's gorgeous. I've only seen her in An Education, but she was brilliant. I like her comments on not wanting to be known but seriously, stop being on the covers of magazines. naziazholesusuck 7 years awesome. a real person who acts in movies. finally i'm not disappointed. right on comment 10! i agree completely with the last paragraph. when all people know you from is gossip sites then go to watch one of your films, it DOES make it hard to believe the character. i almost think a really great actor would be someone we don't know AT ALL. that way we don't know if the acting is them or their personality and they can be most believable. i really hope she has a long career as an actress and can help change the artificialness of hollywood. i think it will also help start making better films. and i don't think she's a snob at all. reba506 7 years Way to attack her on her looks, as if that is the only thing that makes a good actress. Carey is lovely and talented and brilliant. She doesn't need to thrust herself in the spotlight 24/7, and I doubt that people don't recognize her anymore, given that her relationship with Shia Labeouf has killed any sense of anonymity that she might have hoped for. amandahugginkiss 7 years don't know if she is a snob or not but she sounds refreshing. never thought she was pretty. she reminds me of martha plimpton. good actress but kind of homely. these pics make her look very attractive. glad her hair is growing out. think she looks better with longer hair and as a brunette... chocolate79 7 years please, if she doesn't want to be known, then why she has agreed to be on the cover of Vogue.. snob!! Kitty-Collins 7 years From what i've heard she got talent, but unfortunately unless you are flashing tits and a** 24/7, most people won't know you. babaloo 7 years Odd attitude given that the business is so competitive for the talent. She's doing a good job if she doesn't want to be known. ToyChristopher 7 years OMG! Actual actors do still exist! skigurl 7 years I am not surprised they won't let her cameo on Glee. She's becoming a known actress and is fashionable, but she's no household name. Guarantee no one in my family would know who she was if I said her name or showed them her photo. If I didn't read this site, I wouldn't know who she was. This doesn't surprise me whatsoever. zeze 7 years Wow, these photos and the clothes are gorgeous! I love that top on the cover and the lace corset thing...amazing.
