Prince Harry at the National Service of Thanksgiving 2014

Prince Harry and Idris Elba Step Out to Honor Nelson Mandela

Prince Harry represented the British royal family at Monday's National Service of Thanksgiving, which honored the life and work of Nelson Mandela. Following the former South African president's passing in December, the annual Thanksgiving event served as a tribute to Mandela's worldwide impact. Actor Idris Elba attended the service, where Prime Minister David Cameron spoke and South African social-rights activist Desmond Tutu also delivered a speech.

Monday's event marked the latest royal tribute to Nelson Mandela, who was also honored by Prince William and Kate Middleton when the royal couple sent their condolences. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge first learned of Mandela's passing while they were at the premiere of the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and in the days that followed, they addressed the press, saying, "It's obviously extremely sad and tragic news. We were just reminded of what an extraordinary and inspiring man Nelson Mandela was, and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."
