Princess Charlene Relaxes in Italy After Finally Addressing Those Runaway-Bride Rumors
More than two years after her royal wedding to Prince Albert II of Monaco, Princess Charlene kicked back on a yacht off the coast of Olbia, Italy. The former Olympic swimmer enjoyed the water, taking a dip in the sea and hitching a ride on a Jet Ski. The South African-born royal is continuing her holiday with friends in Italy, where she was seen strolling in Portofino last weekend.
The seemingly carefree vacation is a juxtaposition to the drama that surrounded her wedding in July 2011, when rumors circulated that she was trying to flee Monaco and call off the marriage. Charlene addressed the controversy and called the runaway rumors "categorical lies" in an interview that ran in The Times Magazine on Sunday. The princess also recalled the tears she shed on her wedding day, explaining: "Everything was just so overwhelming and there were all the mixed emotions because of the rumors, and obviously the tension built up and I burst into tears." But she said, "It was beautiful; it was sentimental, showing my most intimate moment to the world." As for starting a family, Charlene is not putting herself under any pressure because she just got married and is still getting used to royal life. See her enjoying it now.
