Ryan Reynolds Interviews Himself in EW

Ryan Reynolds Interviews Himself For EW — Charming or Too Much?

It's a big week for Ryan Reynolds! He clinched the number 29 spot in our PopSugar 100, his Green Lantern is out tomorrow, and he's on the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly! Ryan was both interviewer and interviewee in the magazine's piece, "Why I’m Obsessed with Ryan Reynolds, by Ryan Reynolds." In the article, Ryan wrote in the third person about his Canadian childhood, family, and move to LA at the tender age of 19. On Ryan's move to LA, Ryan wrote:

"After moving to Los Angeles at the tender age of 19, armed with only $600 and a rape whistle, he quickly established himself as one of Hollywood’s most dynamic and immensely talented waiters. Eventually Lady Luck gave him a wink and he broke into the business by scoring a lead role in a sitcom titled Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place. Although the series was canceled 10 years ago, Reynolds still holds out hope they’ll change the title to something less stupid. Eventually he moved on to a career in feature films, including the one-woman show National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, which, surprisingly, garnered Reynolds absolutely no significant award nominations. Clawing his way out of a typecasting hole, he managed to secure a wider variety of parts . . . later enjoyed by an audience of hundreds."

That's just one tongue-in-check excerpt from the magazine. It was a new idea, but possibly could be seen as self-indulgent. So, tell us what you think of Ryan's interview — charming or too much?

I read the whole article and it is super funny. He's very self-effacing and witty - which makes him that much more attractive.

I haven't read the article and don't plan on buying the magazine to read it. I just can't see what all the fuss is about this guy. I don't think that he is a great actor or is he that great looking. For some reason he just gives me the creeps.

those with no sense of humor or personality will take this in the literal sense and call him pompous or douchey...those types tend to think they're intelligent but can't keep up with most humorous or sarcastic things people say and stand there like a deer in headlights while everyone else that "gets it" is laughing....quite unfortunate actually

I actually think its a nice new take on the 'celebrity interview'. He's obviously not taking himself seriously so it works. I think it would depend very much on who was interviewing themself. It works with Ryan because he takes the mickey out of himself, but some actors couldn't do that.

one "measure" to much above, sorry :-)

This is ironic. And being able to be ironic and understand ironic is one of the measures measure of ones intelligence. That's what I think.

My comment wasn't really directed at the article itself. I honestly don't care what the hell comes out of his mouth or anyone in Hollywood's mouth for that matter. If the dude is hot, I'm going to drool when his shirt comes off. This is a fact. I don't look to hollywood guys for anything else but hotness. I'm sorry, that's how I am. I just don't like how Ryan is in public. A friend of mine used to work at a restaurant he frequently visited and she said he was the biggest bitch ever. Not just a mean person but a huge bitch. I hate to swear but that's the only word that describes him. Bitchy in the feminine whiny way not in the tough guy way. This all happened years ago though (and not just once), before anyone really gave a crap about him and before he went out with Scarlett. I'm not sure if he has changed since then but I know that there are many a stories about his behaviour all around the city. To balance out this strange post I will say that Rachel McAdams is unreal. As kind as you would imagine and even more gorgeous than you can believe. No joke, I've seen her on the subway twice and both times it was bananas. I'm sure some people recognized her but no one approached her. Her face is perfect. It still haunts me. Forget pictures, this girl is heart stoppingly gorgeous in person.

If you read it with a sense of irony (which I did) it's really cute. Take that away and it's very narcissistic. I think he was aiming for the former which is HARD to convey in a text-based format.

Love him. He is very witty and completely tongue in cheek. Anyone who takes this seriously needs therapy.

He can do no wrong in my eyes. Hot and funny.

I think it's actually pretty funny. The only way it would be too self-indulgent is if he took it seriously. He's obviously making a joke of it, so it's all good.

Too much considering he's a freakin douche. He's hot and all but so so douche-like it's insane. I can see why he married Scarlett. They're both super bitchy but stinkin hot.
