Should Lynne Be Britney's Supervisor?

Should Lynne Be Britney's Supervisor?

After being photographed out late last night, Britney missed the court appearance this morning addressing her emergency request to be allowed overnight visits with her boys. In court, Britney's lawyer also suggested that Lynne be allowed to act as supervisor for Britney's visits with Sean Preston and Jayden James. The judge dismissed the motion on the grounds that it wasn't an emergency but said that Brit's issues could have "devastating effects" on the kids. He then told Britney and Kevin's lawyers to work it out between themselves in the court cafeteria. What do you think — should Lynne be allowed to supervise Britney and her kids?

annieclaire I totally agree with you. Im from the south and I hate it when ignorant people say things like that. Just goes to show they aren't very familiar with the richness of the south. That's like me saying there's nothing but drugs, slums, and gangs in CA and New York.

If she's never listened to her mom's advice before, why should we think she'll start now? She just can't be told what to do. Celebrity brat.

WHY do people have sympathy for her????? She's an absolute idiot and there's just no arguing about it! I don't think she deserves overnight stays at all!

It's up to the judge in the case to decide who would be a good supervisor. I don't know how much Britney would listen to Lynne.

I think a woman's mother is always her harshest parenting critic!!!!! I don't think she'd take the responsibility lightly at all!

Aww, but Lynne did such a great job raising Britney! I can't believe she tried to get an emergency hearing and then didn't even show up for it. Oh, no, wait. I can believe that, actually.

I'll tell you when I quit laughing at the question. Seriously, I think not. She hasn't exactly done a great job of raising her daughter Britney and I am sure the other one will turn out just as bad as her big sister.

I think they should let lynn do it, because that way at least someone in the room truly gives a damn about the kids..... too bad its not the actual mother!

Uh, who the heck raised her to be a lousy mom??? You raise your kids to be responsible adults of character. She raised a kid to be a moron. No, I wouldn't trust her to supervise parenting. I wouldn't give her a puppy. But that's me.

snowbunny, I don't recall my brief comment that you quoted having anything to do with nailing Britney or if the charges were punitive or protecting the children or anything. It's merely a statement that they should stick to the original temporary custody ruling. Britney should not get custody reinstated off one week's behavior, especially since THEY DIDN'T EVEN TURN IN THE DRUG TEST RESULTS TO THE JUDGE. How that turned into a lecture on how the point shouldn't be to "nail" Britney, I'll never know.

definitely not a good idea. other than the obvious that should we be biased and cover up on parenting things that she may not agree, but can you just see it? her mom not approving something and telling her daughter what to do... they'll just start fighting all over again and stop talking to each other.. . then what?

Lynn? Oh please, she'll be there of course for her grandchildren and Brit will totally take advantage of her and then throw her out. I don't even think much of Lynn anyways. If this was the brilliant idea of lawyers or whoever, why couldn't Brit AND Lynn be present in court to make that request? Did they both take sleeping pills? So, we can't get up for court the next morning, but we are supposed to be allowed to watch 2 toddlers overnight? Flimsy excuses. Her life is an awful soap opera, train wreck that you really can't avert your eyes, but it is so unfortunate that these children have to be part of this ride/game she is playing.

"No. They should stick to the original ruling." Well, actually this is a custody situation, so the point is not punitive, but rather ensure that the children are protected, with the ultimate goal that both parents are able to take some part in the child raising. The point isn't really to "nail" Britney. Using a grandparent or other close, responsible relative is generally considered a good idea because it allows the family to, ya know, feel like a family. Apart from the mystery of how Britney became such a trainwreck, Lynne Spears doesn't sound like a bad character, especially because she has been urging Brit to go to rehab in the past, which led to their falling out. However, it sounds like the judge is genuinely concerned about Britney's substance abuse, and so it would probably be best if she just piped down and followed the orders as he gave them, until he feels that it's appropriate to let Lynne Spears supervise these visits. Honestly, there is such a huge mentality circulating about "nailing" certain celebs for the mistakes they make, and then feeling that the legal system ought to also be acting in a way that "nails" them, that just isn't how it works.

The Judge said: "But at the same time this is a person who is dealing with challenges. And the challenges are substance abuse issues and emotional issues that could have devastating effects on the children." That is such a HUGE statement from a judge. People who pawn her problems off as an exaggeration from the media are in serious denial.
