Sofia Vergara heated up the red carpet at the Machete Kills premiere in LA last night. While she didn't show off her dance moves, like she did at the Emmys, the actress looked like she was having fun at the event, chatting with director Robert Rodriguez and costars Alexa Vega, Mel Gibson, and Danny Trejo. While the cast list for Machete Kills, which hits theaters on Oct. 11, reads like a who's who of Hispanic-American stars (Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Antonio Banderas, and Charlie Sheen also star in the flick) Sofia, Danny, Alexa, and Mel were the only main actors from the film to show up to the premiere last night. However, Robert's frequent collaborator Jessica was on hand over the weekend to honor the director at the 2013 ALMA Awards.
Earlier this week, Sofia discussed the portrayal of Latinas in TV and films and defended her Modern Family character Gloria against criticism that she paints Hispanic women in a poor light. She said, “Whoever said that all Latin women are the same? It’s impossible to caricature millions of women from 20 countries. There are many kinds of Latinas, just like there are many types and styles of women all over the world.” She added that she created her character to be a mix of her mother and sister and views her as being very family-oriented and hard-working.
