Arrow star Stephen Amell posted a new Facebook video on Wednesday afternoon, letting everyone know he's taking a social media break. It might seem out of nowhere, but the issue stems from the drama surrounding Ahmed Mohamed [2], a ninth grader who was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school. Many high-profile figures showed support for Ahmed on social media [3], but Stephen, whose wife and extended family are from Texas, tweeted that stereotyping Texas isn't right, either [4]. In the face of vicious backlash, he went on to clarify his words with a series of tweets, and in the above video, he concluded with his need for a self-imposed break. Stephen's point may be valid, but as he stated in a later tweet [5], "debates in 140 characters don't work."
