Skinny fat--According to Newsweek (note: not a tabloid), Brad's adoption of Maddox and Zahara was completed shortly before Shiloh's birth. It was in that article they published last summer about 15 celebrities who give back (sorry my link has expired). And I've seen one photo of the parents dropping the two middle kids off at daycare for what was reported to be a couple hours--this hardly equates to "every day". And that is even assuming daycare is a bad thing. And as for changing Pax's name, Angelina is not unique. About 80% of adoptive parents change the child's name, even when the child is older. I'm not saying its good or bad, just pointing out it is not at all unusual.

deba-im confused who didnt take care of their kids. gwen? really, because she doesnt have a nanny, she breast feeds and he is pretty much the center of her world. i know the multi tasking mom is an awful thing :OY: all im saying is that people can say alot of bad things about alot of celebs but calling them a bad mom when you really have no idea is kinda low. ************************************************************ Indentured servant a slave to slave, thank god for my hopeful heart and for mutual feelings

"2. It has been reported numerous places and numerous pics have been published about the Brangelina brood going to daycare." ------ This is simply not true, but never let the truth get in the way of a good story, eh?

It's not a historical mystery, but check out The Sisters about the Mitford sisters. A historical mystery that is good is called The Amber Room, based on this beautiful Amber room built by Catherine the great.

yup yup! I had one of those little bed-tent thingys & I would keep a flashlight under my pillow to read at night. One of the reasons I love Harry Potter so much is b/c it is awesome to see kids walking around w/ their noses in a 700 page book!

I'm still a book nut too! Hahaha. I've been into biographies and history books lately. Never got into romance...my father made my mother hide her romance books because they had sex in them.

Miami Gal - me too. My big sister taught me how to read when I was 3-1/2 and I used to love hiding under the sheets reading with a flashlight. I always had my nose in a book as a kid and I still love to read. ****************************************** Toto, I have a feeling we're not in America anymore :(

I used to read under the sheets with a flashlight. I do think it is messed up she changed the kid's name at that age. My friend's mom, who is from Vietnam and goes there every year, says she had to have gotten special treatment. Her great neice was orphaned over there and her sister is not well and is worried she will end up in an orphanage. She has found a couple who have jumped through major hoops for this kid...and it's been over 2 years. He's a family lawyer, and she is actually from a Vietamese family and speaks the language.

I'm not saying you didn't know Sash, in my earlier posts, I said I was looking for it. It was more of a comment to myself. Well Skinny fat, at least they have an awesome father. He even said that about her...about how she shouldn't have had kids. Her daughter needed "female" advice and was given a fricken book. I ended up sitting down and having a talk with her. Talking about cramps and such with a someone who is going through their first year brings back memories.

I think it's horrid that Angelina took a 3 year old and changed his first name. How is she going to explain to him WHY she changed his name? Because she didn't like his real name? It wasn't "cool" enough for her... *********************************************** Toto, I have a feeling we're not in America anymore :(

i know when the study came out. "Studies" like the recently published one tend to generalize. geez.

Early child development in education can happen with parents too. Mine taught me to read by the age of 4. And I'm talking children's novels, like Little Women, Moby Dick, etc. No picture books for me.

Deba, notice, it says adoptive father to be, to be indicating it hasn't happened. Skinny, yes, that is an issue. She was European and in her mind, she "needed" the nanny. But the whole family identity and respecting authority from parents is tied to long day care and nannies. Sad, but true. I did a nanny job in college for a spell. The parents wanted to spend time with the kids after they were fed, bathed, and ready for bed. When they acted up, if I was there, I was requested to "take care of the problem". Not all parents with nannies are like this, but many are. He had the forsight to take the full time nanny away when they both were in school. Then, it was just him picking up the kids and such. His ex was too busy not working. LOL

Just to add another perspective: Daycare benefits Children A new study by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development shows that early, higher quality childcare contributes to improved academic success down the road. The study shows that children who received high-quality daycare before entering kindergarten had better vocabulary scores and experienced fewer disciplinary problems than children who did not attend daycare. Many studies already show that preschool and daycare programs are beneficial for children. Local child care providers said they have taken note. "Our first priority is just to make sure that they think it's an exciting place to be, and are really pumped up and eager to learn the information," Athena Huffman of the Princeton Children's Center in Lawrence said. The study appears in the March/April issue of Child Development.
