Every year, a new batch of celebrity couples tie the knot [1], but 2018 has certainly been the year of surprise weddings. From Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer [2] to Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn [3] and Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber [4], it seems like every time we blink, another couple gets married. With everything going on in the world, we're happy these celebrity duos were able to find a bright spot in 2018.
Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef
In January, Ricky revealed that he and Jwan exchanged vows [11] and "signed all the papers" after two years of dating. While they have yet to throw an official wedding ceremony, they are already parents to twin sons Valentino and Matteo.
Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn
After debuting a wedding band [12] at the Brit Awards in February, Ed confirmed in late August [13] that he and his longtime girlfriend had already gotten married. "I never really do anything too public anyway," he said.
Michelle Williams and Phil Elverum
In July, Michelle revealed to Vogue that she tied the knot with musician Phil Elverum [15] in a private ceremony in the Adirondack Mountains.
Laura Prepon and Ben Foster
The couple wed in a secret ceremony [17] in June. Laura announced the news on her Instagram account, writing, "Just Married! Thank you for all the love and support. Wishing all of us the good stuff!"
Ellen Page and Emma Portner
In January, Ellen revealed that she and Emma tied the knot [18] by casually sharing a photo of their rings on Instagram. "Can't believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife. @emmaportner," the actress gushed.
Michael Cera and Nadine
The actor wed his longtime girlfriend [19] in a secret ceremony. It's unclear when they tied the knot, but Michael was spotted wearing a gold wedding band [20] on his left hand in March.
Ryan Lochte and Kayla Rae Reid
The couple secretly tied the knot at a Florida courthouse in January before getting married for the second time [24] in a gorgeous California wedding eight months later. Ryan and Kayla welcomed their son Caiden [25] in June 2017.
Nico Tortorella and Bethany Meyers
The Younger star surprised fans in March when he announced on Instagram that he wed his longtime girlfriend [26] after 11 years together. "Just married. For real," Nico wrote.
Eliza Dushku and Peter Palandjian
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress wed her CEO fiancé in August, though she didn't reveal the news until nearly a month later on Instagram. Along with snaps from their nuptials [28], Eliza wrote, "♥️♥️ 8.18.18."
Robin Wright and Clement Giraudet
The House of Cards actress married [29] the Saint Laurent VIP relations manager in a private ceremony in August. "It was very intimate and low-key," People reported. "Robin wanted it to be about them, not a big production."
Hilary Swank and Philip Schneider
In August, Hilary tied the knot with her boyfriend [31] in a surprise ceremony at the Saint Lucia Preserve in Carmel, CA. "We found exactly what we were looking for at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California," Hilary told Vogue. "It's a stunning private community surrounded by 20,000 acres of conservancy and an intimate redwood grove populated with trees that are over 800 years old."
