Would You Drink Cocaine If Everyone Was Doing It?

A new Red Bull has emerged, and it is called Cocaine. The company claims to be against drugs and yet asks if customers can "handle the rush?" We were wondering who their spokesperson would be and figured Lindsay Lohan would be the most appropriate fit. She's too young to drink, yet she always seems high, so maybe this "legal cocaine" will help LL more than whatever she is on now. Apparently the drink made its debut last week at Fashion Week—makes sense—and supposedly tastes like a cherry Jolly Rancher. Here's more:

The drink's maker maintains that "doing Cocaine"—the beverage, that is—gives you a bigger and better high without the crash that other energy drinks cause.

They say a high hits you within five minutes, followed by a caffeine boost 15 minutes later. But hold on—the ride lasts five hours and the concoction is "350 percent stronger than Red Bull," they claim.

They argue that the effect is part chemical—this drink uses "simple" sugars that don't need to be broken down by the body to create a sugar buzz, and a much larger dose of vitamin B12—and part psychological.

Lots more pics of LL and her new wrist cast so

It does indirectly take the stigma off the word "cocaine" but that's marketing for you... I honestly doubt little children will begin snorting lines of blow just because they see this energy drink at the local 7-11. In today's world, people are so easily offended. Oh wait... Just America.

Kids absolutely don't know everything. They just think they do. And nah, I'll pass. I pass on the energy drinks period since my doctor told me that they were really not very good for you since what they actually do is send your body INTO stress. And mixed with alcohol, they CAN be quite dangerous.

Red Bull is a company run by idiots. Can't they see that by naming their product after a potentially lethal, illegal substance they are actually promoting it? I'm sure there were thousands of other names they could have chosen. It probably tastes like raw sewage, anyway.

I'd drink it if it wasn't named Cocaine, but I think they lost more customers by naming it that than they gained. I mean they could've said "It's like cocaine" or something, idk, but not NAME it that.

I just think the little "tm" sign is funny on the bottle . So now , when we talk about cocaine, we must say cocaine "the drug", since they trademarked the name?

I think it's interesting. I see this drink being a big hit in L.A. and other city hubs. And I would definitely venture to say that this drink is probably 10X SAFER than ALCOHOL, which is NOT ILLEGAL in the U.S. but is still a DRUG, and causes more deaths than any other substance, illegal or otherwise. I don't let the government dictate to me what I should or should not consume, based on legality (which is only based on profit-margin, anyway). I would never, ever drink this though -- 350X stronger than Red Bull?!? Is that a frickin' typo?!? I once drank a small can of RB and I felt like my chest was going to explode. It's stronger than ACTUAL cocaine! I can't even imagine how potent this crazy drink will be. Definitely not for me, but I'm nonplussed about the name.

Margaritas are my preferred drink but I also enjoy a Red Bull and Vodka every now and again. If this stuff really tastes like a cherry Jolly Rancher then I would be willing to give it a try with some Vodka. I definitely think it needs a name change because it is really disgusting to promote drugs to young children.

Lauren, you really need to chill. We are having fun with this. Coke did indeed have cocaine in it, and it was much much less then 100 years ago. insulting others and thier comments is the last thing you want to popsugar.

I must say I love Red Bull and if this stuff ever actually makes it to Australia I'll try it. I love cherry anything and I work night shift so if it keeps me awake thats a bonus. I think the name could use a rethink, obviously, but cherry flavoured super strong Red Bull sounds pretty great to me.
