Would You Let Your Kids Take Dance Class With Britney?

Britney has been spending a lot of her time at the Millennium dance studio lately and not just to work on her next video. Over the weekend she taught a dance class for a small group of 5-year-olds, showing them how to do mini-routines to Madonna and playing with instruments. It all sounds very sweet, but also a bit strange. What do you think — would you let your kids take a dance class with Britney?

I would never let my daughter in the same room with her, much less be taught by her. I feel so bad for her boys, I think this whole teaching kids dance is a ploy to make her look better.

Several things I want to address. First, the leotard, when I took dance class you could get "Half" leotards. That was, just the bottom part of the leotard. We used to wear them to school under our skirts too so we could do flips and things on the bars. They LOOK like undies, but are much thicker and covering. 2nd - THANK YOU SNOWBUNNY! I have been saying that all along, it's nice to know someone else thinks like I do. :) 3rd - Just because the parents were "outside" the classroom doesn't mean they couldn't see. The classes I took had huge picture windows and my mom sat in a chair on the other side with all the other mom's watching us. I hated it too because she didn't like it when I danced next to my best friend. She got mad cuz we didn't pay attention, but that's another story. LMAO And last. LOOK AT HER NOW! She's so much more subdued than before. Clearly what her parents are doing is helping her, and she's getting better. I'm happy to see it. This girl has SO much potential, and I for one can't wait for the big comeback. That being said however, she needs to give herself LOTS AND LOTS of time before she makes THAT much of a comeback. I think right now it's good for her just to stick to the simple things she's doing now. Baby steps, ya know?

The seven moms who allowed their children to be in the dance class led by Britney had to wait outside the classroom. They weren't allowed inside.

Snowbunny: Thank you, very well said. All you haters need to stop hating and writing hurtful things and give the girl a chance.

allouregrets, I merely mentioned that because I think if you're actually in that position you have a different perspective. My response was to someone else who was being critical.

Oh, I am definitely teaching my children empathy and that there are people out there that are sick and need help, but I refuse to be an enabler letting people like Brit 'pretend' things are ok and normal. She obviously has issues she needs to deal with (even the courts say so) and should take care of them before being around other people's children (in any capacity). Is it worth it to me to let my children dance with a 'world-famous pop star' even if supervised and just for 15 minutes while I stand there- absolutely not in the state that she is in! I am not saying she can't get help but at this point she has proven she is a danger to herself (taken to the hospital- twice already?) and can't even have her children with her (even with court appointed supervision). She needed a supervisor with her own kids- do they have a court appointed supervisor at the studio for other people's kids???? Let's just agree to disagree because my opinion won't change when it involves the safety of my children.

I think a lot of people are really confused. When Britney "teaches" a dance class, she is probably helping to assist the normal professional teacher who is teaching, and responsible for watching the kids. Britney isn't able to be a mom right now, but she can certainly show some dance moves for 15 minutes without harming the kids. How cool would it be to learn dance moves from Britney Spears? I think it's a good experience on both ends. Kids need to learn empathy and that some people have problems, do you all isolate your kids from bad dressers and people with handicaps and illnesses? Don't forget, some of us have had relatives who have had mental illnesses, and it's not like you can't be around a person just because she has an illness. In fact, I had to visit my mom in a hospital a few times to see her. It's not like you get scarred from doing that kind of stuff, it teaches empathy, a trait some of you seriously seem to be lacking. Would I let her babysit my kids? No!! But this is a controlled setting, with other responsible adults around.

That would be crazily amazing! Of course I would! But, as long as I was there to watch and videotape the whole thing. She IS a good dancer, so I think it'd be okay.

Of course I will!!! She suffers of depression, she's not a serial killer or something! And she's a great dancer so it would be an amazing experience!! ;) I've read that she was totally sweet with all these kids and that all of them were so happy to dance with her! ;)

I'm not saying that it's not her fault. I am saying that why would the owners or parents allow her to dress like that? If she came in covered head-to-toe, would the parents not be mumbling? Why did they not speak up for their children's sake?

Plasticapple, they could maybe learn how to make dancing look as bad as possible

This is what I have a problem with, "Britney is a dancer and a singer. She is good at those things." Um...she USED to be good at those things. Now she can barely stand up straight or speak coherently. What on earth could a child possibly learn from her?

Furthermore how the hell is Brit's Dressing issue NOT HER FAULT? She's an adult, let's re-address that she doesn't have someone else dress her! She gets up and conciously dresses her self, she is NOT a child and someone else chooses her outfits.

Iamawesomeness - Usually a leotard has straps that go over your shoulders like a bra or a one piece swimsuit, and as you can see there are no straps in these pics. She was wearing what appears to be underwear, but there are far more suitable clothes for an instructor to be wearing around young children.
