Beyoncé has partnered with the NAACP through her BeyGood foundation [2] to create an impact fund to support Black-owned businesses in the US, and applications are open now. The BeyGood foundation was first launched in 2013 with the goal of inspiring people to be kind and charitable to themselves, their communities, and the world around them. In partnership with the NAACP — which seeks to fight for racial equality and justice in the US — the organization will provide grants of $10,000 to Black business owners [3] in select cities for a short time, with the specific goal of replacing damaged property.
"Over the last couple of months, the pandemic and outpours for justice throughout the Black community and across the country has been felt in every imaginable area of our lives, including in how our local businesses continue to operate," the civil rights organization said in a statement. "The challenges of Black business owners navigating in the climate cannot be understated, as the effects of uprisings across the nation have led to many businesses being placed in dire straits due to damages and other small business needs."
Applications are being accepted [5] starting on July 9 to July 18, and eligible businesses must be located in one of the following cities: Houston, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, or Minneapolis, MN.
