On Saturday, the 38-year-old singer shared a series of snaps from the Los Angeles gathering [3], where she rocked a green utility ensemble [4] with a small bag, drop earrings, and a pair of snakeskin boots (an ode to Jodie Turner-Smith's character in the movie [5]). At an afterparty, Bey posed for photos alongside friends and loved ones, including her mother, Tina Lawson [6], as well as Queen & Slim [7] writer Lena Waithe and director Melina Matsoukas.
Bey and Melina's friendship runs especially deep, as they've known each other for over a decade and collaborated on some of Beyoncé's best music videos, including "Formation," "Diva," and "Upgrade U." Back in June, Beyoncé even honored the filmmaker [8] at the 47th annual AFI Life Achievement Award tribute gala, calling her "family" and praising her for telling stories that are "thought-provoking, dramatic, funny, and real."
