In an unexpected yet highly appreciated turn of events, Beyoncé and JAY-Z stepped out for the Golden Globes on Sunday. Although the power couple wasn't photographed on the red carpet, viewers were shocked to see them among the crowd as Kate McKinnon presented Ellen DeGeneres with the Carol Burnett Award. While Bey wore a voluminous black-and-gold ensemble, Jay sported a tuxedo. The couple celebrated in true star fashion, bringing their own bottles of Armand de Brignac Champagne to the ceremony. Inside, they mingled at their table with Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, as well as Jennifer Lopez, and sipped on their bubbly. Fun fact: JAY-Z actually bought Armand de Brignac in 2014.

The pair attended the event in support of Disney's reboot of The Lion King, which was nominated for best animated film. Beyoncé's song "Spirit" — which is featured on her LP The Lion King: The Gift — also earned a nod in the best original song category. Bey and JAY reportedly arrived late (according to attendee and film critic Cameron Bailey, they "just materialized"), but perhaps everyone else was just early? At any rate, it's not the appearance we anticipated, but it's the appearance we deserve. Look ahead to see the duo at the ceremony!
