Coach Beard is getting married! On June 29, "Ted Lasso [1]" actor Brendan Hunt announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend, Shannon Nelson, in a post on Instagram [2]. According to his caption, Hunt captured the exact moment Nelson, who also appeared in one episode of "Ted Lasso" as Ms. Ledbetter, said yes. The blurry photo features a closeup of a smiling Nelson showing off her ring. "The majestic @snoopshann, so rarely photographed in her natural habitat, captured here in the act of saying 'yes," Hunt wrote.
Nelson shared her excitement on her own Instagram [3]. In addition to sharing the same photo Hunt shared, she also posted a close-up snap of herself with her new fiancé. "We are a family," she wrote. "A beautiful wonderful family and will be for always. Some folks have assumed we had already done this, but truth be told we had other priorities in becoming a family. Now it feels right. I get to marry this beautiful man. I get to call him my husband and to be his wife and I am the luckiest."
The couple's famous friends were quick to fill the comment sections on their posts with well wishes. Fellow "Ted Lasso" star Phil Dunster [4] wrote, "YAHTZEEEEEE," while Jeremy Swift, who plays Higgins, added, "What the!! Amaaaazing! Congratulations!!! (bursts into tears and runs off)." Another "Ted Lasso" alum, Moe Jeudy-Lamour, commented, "Omg omg omg omg omg omg."
Nelson and Hunt have kept their relationship private for the most part, so it's unclear how long they've been together. However, the couple share a 2-year-old son, Sean Theodore Nelson Hunt. Their little one frequently pops up in adorable photos on their Instagram grids.
After the third and potentially final season [5] finale of "Ted Lasso" aired, Nelson posted a carousel of photos featuring her son on the show's set [6], alongside a heartfelt message about her her family's experience with the Apple TV+ comedy. "Our family is so grateful for every part of this Ted Lasso adventure," she wrote [7]. "To say dreams came true during the course of this show is a gross understatement. Lasso Baby #2 will always know a world with Ted and his friends in it and that is a fine, fine thing."
