Busy Philipps Opens Up to Ellen About the Sexual Trauma She Faced as a 14-Year-Old Girl
Busy Philipps stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday to discuss her new memoir, This Will Only Hurt a Little, which is out on Oct. 16. The actress, who also has an upcoming late-night talk show on E!, talked to Ellen about a particularly candid chapter in the book in which she opens up about being raped at 14 years old.
"Last week with the Kavanaugh hearings, I saw Dr. Ford take the stand," Busy said. "I was so moved by her bravery. It wasn't something that I felt like I was ever going to blast out on social media, but when I saw her standing there speaking her truth, I was like, 'I can do this. We can all do this.'"
Ellen revealed that she, too, experienced sexual assault at the age of 15. Busy added, "It's a real moment of reckoning for women that we have collectively carried this burden for so long, and it's time to share it."
