On Thursday, as part of a Mother's Day [1] tribute on Jimmy Kimmel Live [2], various celebrities read real texts they've received from their moms, and it went just about as well as you would think.

Emily Blunt [3] and Elle Fanning's moms texts were novel-length while Gwyneth Paltrow [4]'s mom, Blythe Danner, was guilty of the multitext answer-her-own-question response. Meanwhile, Ben Schwartz's mom responded to a family group chat versus talking to her son directly and Will Arnett [5]'s mom over-explained how technology works ("I forgot that you could utilize the pause button . . . "). Other celebrities included were Lakeith Stanfield, January Jones [6], Aidy Bryant, Don Lemon, and Renée Zellweger [7].
