Heather Rae El Moussa is a mom! The "Selling Sunset [1]" star welcomed her first child [2], a son named Tristan Jay El Moussa, with husband Tarek El Moussa on Jan. 31. The couple's son joins Tarek's two other children, Taylor and Brayden El Moussa, from his previous marriage to "Flip or Flop" star Christina Anstead.
Heather and Tarek first met [3] in July 2019, got engaged [4] a year later, and officially tied the knot in October 2021. Throughout their relationship, both Heather and Tarek have been candid about how important family is to them.
"Tarek treated me like a wife from the beginning, and he was so supportive of me being a step-mom to the kids right away, but there's something extra special about officially being the El Moussa family." Heather wrote on Instagram [5] in October 2021. "These kids are truly our everything so we decided to say our vows first to the kids and second to each other. This is just a tiny portion of what I said to the kids but I truly meant every word 🤍."
Nine months later, Heather revealed she was expecting her first child. "It was a huge shock," Heather told People [6] then. "We just weren't expecting this. We had just gone through IVF. We had embryos on ice. We had a plan." She added: "I think when you least expect it and there's no stress in your life, the world just brought us what was meant to be. I'm so excited that it happened like this."

Heather Rae and Tarek El Moussa's Son
Heather gave birth to her first child [8], a baby boy, with husband Tarek on Jan. 31, 2023. The couple shared the exciting news in a joint Instagram post two days later with a photo of them holding their son. "Our baby boy is here 🤍 1.31.23," they captioned it. "Mama & baby are happy, healthy, tired but doing well. Our hearts are so happy ❤️."
Since their son's arrival, Heather has been documenting her journey as a first-time mom on social media. "Soaking in all of the sweet and precious moments with our baby boy 🤍," Heather wrote in another Instagram post [9] on Feb. 10. "Adjusting to newborn mommyhood and staying in our happy, private little bubble until we're ready to share him with the world. Writing down all the moments that I never want to forget in the first week and a half of being a mommy and focusing on being present. More to come 👼🏻🤍🤍."
The tiny tot's name was revealed in an interview with Us Weekly [10] on Feb. 15: Tristan Jay El Moussa. Heather told the outlet, "Tarek was supposed to be named Tristan, and his parents ended up naming him Tarek. And then my dad's middle name is Jay. So it's four generations of the middle name Jay."
That same day, she opened up about the birth on Instagram [11], detailing the scary circumstances of Tristan's arrival. "Our baby boy came out healthy and beautiful, I was in a state of shock it was a surreal experience. I was emotional and drained & so in love already," she recounted.
