Lauren London speaks onstage as Nipsey Hussle is posthumously honored with a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Lauren London [1] continues to be Nipsey Hussle [2]'s number one supporter. On Aug. 15, the actor spoke at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Walk of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles after the late rapper was posthumously honored with his own star on what would've been his 37th birthday. It was also officially declared by Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson as Nipsey Hussle Day, Complex [3] reported. Thanks to the prestigious landmark, Hussle's name is forever cemented in his hometown.

London's heartfelt speech at the Los Angeles ceremony started with her saying, "Happy birthday, Hussle [4]," before she expressed gratitude to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. "Thank you for acknowledging a visionary. I think I speak for the entire city of LA when I say that we've always known Hussle was destined for greatness," she said in a video shared by The Shade Room [5]. "This moment only amplifies that for us."

"Nip will forever live in our hearts."

"Nip would've been honored by this moment," London continued. "I think he would want everyone to remember that you can't get to what's possible unless you commit to moving forward. That doesn't mean forgetting where you come from, but it requires acknowledging the reality you were born into and the power you have to change that reality for the better. So whenever you're in the City of Angels and you see this star, I hope it encourages you to break away from whatever might be holding you back and for you to run your marathon until God says that it's finished. Nip will forever live in our hearts. I am grateful for the love and support the world has shown us, but especially, I want to thank the city of Los Angeles. I love you and, as y'all know, the marathon continues."

Hussle's recent honor comes a month after Eric Holder Jr. was convicted of first-degree murder [7] for the fatal 2019 shooting that resulted in the rapper's death [8]. Hussle died on March 31, 2019, at age 33, leaving behind longtime girlfriend London, daughter Emani, and son Kross [9]. He was honored with a homegoing service at the then-Staples Center on April 11, 2019, where London also gave a touching tribute [10] in honor of his memory.
