Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson Have 3 Adorable Kids — Meet Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie

Jessica Simpson and her husband, Eric Johnson, are an adorable family of five with their three kids, and the couple loves to show off their children online. Simpson and Johnson, who met and got engaged in 2010, started their family soon after when they welcomed their first child together, daughter Maxwell, in 2011. Followed by their one and only son, Ace, in 2013, and their second daughter, Birdie, in 2019. Amid growing their family, the pair also got married at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, CA, in July 2014.

Simpson takes great pride in being a mom of three. In a 2013 Parents blog post, she opened up about her motherhood journey, noting that her first two children "changed my perspective completely." "Becoming a mom has helped me realize I'm actually proud of myself for a lot of the things I have done in my life," she shared, per People. "Having my kids has made me feel so much more at peace with myself."

The singer, fashion designer, and author, who's been transparent about her sobriety, opened up about motherhood again during a 2020 appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," where she revealed that her kids were a big motivator in her staying sober. "I was at a place where I was literally spiraling with the alcohol and I was missing out on moments with my children, and then they were seeing me and they were very confused," Simpson said. "I just wanted to be present and have clarity and be a good role model for my children."

Nowadays, Simpson and her husband spend their days bonding with their children and sharing sweet moments with them on social media. Meet the Johnson kids ahead and see some of the family's sweetest photos together.

Maxwell Drew Johnson

Simpson and Johnson welcomed their first child, daughter Maxwell, on May 1, 2012. The singer shared the news of Max's birth on her website at the time. "Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson," she wrote, according to People. "We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!"

Apparently, Maxwell got her gender-neutral name from a combination of her dad's middle name (Maxwell) and her maternal grandmother's maiden name (Drew).

Ace Knute Johnson

After announcing her second pregnancy publicly on Christmas Day in 2012, Simpson welcomed her first son, Ace, with her husband on June 30, 2013, just 14 months after Maxwell.

Ace's middle name, Knute, comes from his dad's Swedish grandfather.

On his seventh birthday, Simpson shared a photo of Ace alongside a sweet message: "I cannot believe my boy is 7! This kiddo is amazing at everything! He is beautiful, kind, compassionate, obedient to his own heart, soulful, competitive, a gentle force of nature, observant, even tempered, complimentary, hugs when he sees conflict in the room, nurturing, athletic, intelligent, hopeful, daddy's best friend, mommy's snuggle monster, home run king, knows everyone's next move, passionate, hilarious, a collector of baseball cards and crystals, one of a kind and good...he is just SO good. He is a sunburst of light with the magic of a full moon. Ace buddy, my Cancerian soulmate, I have never known anyone more capable of making this world a better place."

Birdie Mae Johnson

After a difficult pregnancy, Simpson and Johnson welcomed their third child, Birdie Mae, on March 19, 2019. "We are so happy and proud to announce the birth of our perfect daughter, Birdie," the singer wrote on Instagram at the time.

Although Simpson told Ellen DeGeneres back in 2017 that she and her husband were done having kids because she already had two children that were "too cute" (and "you really can't top that"), Birdie has grown to be just as adorable as her older brother and sister.

On her fourth birthday, Simpson and her husband threw their youngest baby girl a unicorn-themed party, showing off the sweet celebration in an Instagram photo series. "Birdie Mae Johnson is 4!!!" Simpson captioned her post. "This adorable wonder of a unicorn kiddo illuminates every color in the rainbow . . . her favorite color . . . Birdie magically makes us laugh AT ALL TIMES capturing attention from EVERYONE! She is uniquely and effortlessly herself. This little lady celebrates and twirls through her life in tutus with a pure unique understanding in her soul of glitter sparkles. We love her SO VERY MUCH and she knows it. Birdie is a symphony of STARDUST and born to SHINE. I smiled the entire time writing this because even when she isn't home, I feel her presence glowing inside of me. Bird puts the HAPPY to the BIRTHDAY."
