Beyoncé and JAY-Z's Kids Are Growing Up So Fast — Meet Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir

Look up the term "power couple" in the dictionary and you might find a photo of Beyoncé and JAY-Z, who are parents of three.

While Beyoncé has posted tons of photos of their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, over the years and even recently shared the stage with her, she's been a lot more private when it comes to sharing snapshots of her twins. On Aug. 1, though, fellow superstar Madonna shared an extremely rare glimpse of Beyoncé's youngest daughter, Rumi, backstage at the "Renaissance" Tour on her Instagram Story, showing just how much she's grown over the years. According to the trailer for Beyoncé's upcoming "Renaissance" Tour movie, we may soon get a closer look at her and JAY-Z's three kiddos.

Of course, all three kids have been in the spotlight since before they were born. Beyoncé famously announced her first pregnancy during a 2011 performance of "Love on Top" at the MTV Video Music Awards. In 2017, she announced that she was expecting her twins by sharing a stunning photo of her baby bump on Instagram, inevitably sending the internet into a frenzy.

Over the years, she and JAY-Z have occasionally opened up about parenthood. "[Having a daughter] just gives you purpose," Beyonce said in a 2012 interview with Anderson Cooper. "I realized why I was born, and more than anything, all of the things I want to pass on to my child — and the best way of doing that is not by preaching or telling her, but showing her by example."

JAY-Z said something similar in a 2021 interview with LeBron James, revealing that having children changed his whole perspective. "I didn't learn how to swim until Blue was born. There goes everything you need to know," he said. "This is a metaphor for our relationship. If she ever fell in the water and I couldn't get her, I couldn't even fathom that thought. I gotta learn how to swim. That's it."

Blue Ivy Carter

JAY-Z and Beyoncé's first child, a daughter named Blue Ivy, was born on Jan. 7, 2012. Despite being just 11 years old, she already has a seriously killer fashion sense, judging by her mom's Instagram. She's also the youngest person to ever win a BET award — which she earned when she was featured in her mom's song "Brown Skin Girl" from "The Lion King: The Gift" soundtrack album — and she's the second youngest person to ever win a Grammy for the same track at just 9 years old.

Since then, she's made plenty of adorable courtside appearances with her dad, and in January 2023, she joined Beyoncé on stage at the icon's first performance in four years. Not to mention, she appeared as a backup dancer throughout her mom's "Renaissance" Tour, stealing the spotlight at every show with her epic dance moves.

Blue Ivy has a pretty sweet bond with her dad, too, though she doesn't always like to show it, according to him. In his October interview with "CBS Mornings"'s Gayle King, JAY-Z dished about whether or not Blue thinks he's a "cool" dad. "Blue, she be frontin' on me a little bit, but she — I catch her," he said with a laugh. "I catch her in the corner, you know? Now she asks me if this cool, her sneakers or whatever she's wearing."

When asked if his oldest seeks his advice, JAY-Z said, "Yeah, she's come back. But there was a time when she was like, 'Dad!" gesturing how she'd hide her face. He added, "I was like, 'I'm cool, I don't know what you saying.' At your house, your parents is cool."

Sir and Rumi Carter

Beyoncé and JAY-Z welcomed their second and third children, twins, son Sir and daughter Rumi, on June 13, 2017. In the documentary "Homecoming," Beyoncé explained that her pregnancy with the twins was especially taxing on her body. "I was supposed to do Coachella the year prior, but I got pregnant unexpectedly," she explained in a monologue. "And it ended up being twins, which was even more of a surprise. My body went through more than I knew it could. I was 218 pounds the day I gave birth. I had an extremely difficult pregnancy. I had high blood pressure, toxemia, preeclampsia, and, in the womb, one of my babies' heartbeats paused a few times, so I had to get an emergency C-section."

Although Blue is often out and about with her parents, Beyoncé and JAY-Z have kept their younger children mostly out of the spotlight so far. Still, Beyoncé sometimes shares a photo or two — such as the rare family snapshot she posted around Halloween in 2022, with the twins adorably dressed up as CeCe and BeBe from Disney Channel's "Proud Family."

We don't know many specifics about the twins, though Rumi has apparently become quite the fashionista over the years — at least according to Tina Knowles-Lawson. "She has an amazing sense of style," Knowles-Lawson said in an interview with Oprah Daily. Rumi may have also caught the dancing bug from her famous mom, as the "Renaissance" Tour movie trailer shows a glimpse of the 6-year-old imitating one of Beyoncé's dance moves.
