John Legend Shares Adorable Milestone From 7-Month-Old Daughter Esti

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are enjoying family life with their four kiddos. The couple, who got married on Sept. 14, 2013, announced on June 28 that they quietly welcomed a baby boy that month via surrogate — adding to their brood of adorable children. Since then, the pair have been sharing glimpses of their family on social media, from their sweet vacation photos to wrangling their rambunctious kids for family portraits.

Over the years, Teigen and Legend have become a fan-favorite celebrity couple, and once you add their precious children into the mix, they're almost too cute to handle as a family unit. Legend and Teigen welcomed their first child, daughter Luna, in 2016, and their son, Miles, followed in 2018. The pair frequently post about their children on Instagram and have been transparent about their parenthood journeys too. "I'm an open, free spirit and I love kids to be kids," Teigen previously told People of her parenting outlook. "For us, kindness is such a big thing. When you meet our kids, they're very warm and friendly. You instill those things in them, but for the most part let them be creative and wondrous and spirited and curious beings."

Teigen shares all facets of her life with fans and is very open about her family. After announcing her pregnancy at the end of Legend's music video for "Wild" in August 2020, Teigen opened up a month later about being on bed rest due to a weak placenta. After being hospitalized due to pregnancy complications, Teigen later revealed that she and Legend lost their baby boy at about 20 weeks (it was later revealed that Teigen had to have a lifesaving abortion). They named him Jack.

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "To our Jack - I'm so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn't give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you."

Two years later, via an Instagram post shared on Aug. 3, 2022, Teigen revealed that she and her husband were expecting another addition to their family, a daughter named Esti Maxine Stephens, whom they welcomed on Jan. 3. Legend announced their baby girl's arrival to a crowd at a private concert, calling the occasion "a blessed day."

A month after their daughter's arrival, on Feb. 15, the couple shared the first portrait of their expanded family on Instagram, with the pair and their first three kids sporting Valentine's Day-themed colors. "excuse the spit up!! we are doing the best we can over here lol," Teigen joked in a caption. Meanwhile, in his own post, Legend wrote, "I had the best Valentine's dates last night. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."

They doubled down on the group photo with a new one on March 1, but Teigen admitted she already has a new goal: "all of us AND all the animals (poodle, frenchie, something I dunno terrier, basset hound, two bunnies and bearded dragon, prob something else by the time this loads)."

Luna Simone Stephens

The couple's first child, Luna, was born on April 14, 2016, and immediately became a focus of both celebrities' Instagram accounts. The little lady may look like her dad, but we'll give Teigen this: she's totally got mama's humor and attitude.

On Luna's fourth birthday, her mom wrote on Instagram: "happy 4th birthday to the queen of our household. I could have never prayed for a better little being." Legend added on his own account: "Happy 4th birthday to our beautiful Luna! I'm so happy I get to be your father, teacher, friend."

In Teigen's 2021 People cover story, she told the outlet Luna is "a bit of a perfectionist." "I'm trying to tell her that not everything — it's funny because when I talk to her, I'm actually talking to myself too — not everything has to be perfect and there is joy and beauty in imperfections, and don't be so hard on yourself," she added. "And that's me talking to myself when I tell her that stuff."

Miles Theodore Stephens

Miles, born on May 16, 2018, is Teigen and Legend's second child, and yeah, we just did a double take, too. The little guy is a spitting image of his dad (who, according to Teigen, looks just like Arthur the aardvark), and he somehow gets cuter and cuter as time goes on. Fun fact: Miles's name was inspired by the great Miles Davis.

In Teigen's 2021 People cover story, the mom of three revealed that she was, at the time, teaching her son early on to "embrace" his emotions. "He wears his heart on his sleeve, and we embrace that," she said. "I think more men should embrace their emotions. I think that's really important in this world . . . There is no 'Be a man' in our house. There's no right way to be a man, and John is so good about showing them through how he treats me how to be a good man, how to be a good father. It's wonderful to see."

On Miles's second birthday, the family threw an at-home car-themed birthday party and wore adorable matching Elmo shirts. On a photo of Miles with his monthly milestones chalkboard, Teigen wrote: "Happy birthday to the boy who gives our household so much life. You're bonkers, my tiny fearless love bug, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I melt every time I look at your cheeky little face. I love you, happy TWO!"

Esti Maxine Stephens

Teigen and Legend confirmed they welcomed a baby girl almost a week after her arrival on Jan. 13, revealing her name in an Instagram post. "She's here! Esti Maxine Stephens - the house is bustling and our family could not be happier 💕," Teigen wrote alongside a photo of their newborn being held by her siblings. "Daddy sheds nightly tears of joy seeing Luna and Miles so full of love, and I am learning you still need diapers with a c section!? We are in bliss. Thank you for all the love and well wishes - we feel it all! X."

Shortly before their daughter's name was announced, a source told People that the pair's newborn was "doing well" and the pair were "ecstatic" about her arrival. "They both really wanted to add another baby to the family. It's been a long road," the insider said. They also shared that Luna and Miles are "so excited" about their new little sister. "It's such an amazing way for them to start the new year," the source added.

Seven months after Esti's birth, Legend shared an adorable video of her saying her first word on Instagram. In it, the singer asked, "What's my name?" with wife Teigen prompting, "What's daddy's name? Dada?" And Esti was quick to repeat after her, much to her dad's delight, who captioned the footage, "DADA! Then I got too excited and scared her 😂."

Wren Alexander Stephens

Legend and Teigen's baby boy, Wren Alexander Stephens, was born on June 19, 2023, via surrogate. Teigen revealed the surprise news on June 28 in a moving Instagram post detailing her emotional sentiments about expanding her family again. "For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted four children," she started the announcement. ". . . After losing Jack, I didn't think I'd be able to carry any more babies on my own. To be honest, I've personally blocked out a lot of my mindset during that time, but one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn't go through that pain and loss again."

Teigen went on to explain that, in 2021, she and Legend reached out to a surrogacy agency to inquire "about perhaps having two tandem surrogates, to each bring us a healthy baby boy or girl. Twins, kinda?!" And after doing an IVF transfer for Esti, she restarted the process for Wren. Though the first transfer attempt was unsuccessful, Teigen said her "incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate" Alexandra later got pregnant with Wren and gave birth to him.

"We want to say thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra," Teigen continued. "And we are so happy to tell the world he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephens." She concluded her message by writing, "Our hearts, and our home, are officially full. And to our Jack, we know both their angel kisses are from you."
