I truly enjoy a debate that maintains civility and makes one think. It is truly refreshing and a big thank you to ceej and anya82 for a bit of fresh air. And to add to the mix, celebrity ambassadors are more recognizable than let say Henry Kissinger (despite of his age) to most people on the web blogs. Angelina and Brad gives more focus to the current events. As I said before negative or positive it made people respond and therefore aware.

^your question can be posed to any government aid program/policy and the answer would vary on who you ask. from the troops in the middle east to the new impending health care reform. is the money being spent going to bring peace to the middle east or give everyone health care without putting the US in further debt? probably not, but it might bring upon change for the better. things don't change over night but those that can help should for the greater good and hope for a better world. at any rate, as far as Brad and Angie's trip is concerned I'm sure they pitched in for the cost of the trip.

Of course aid is helpful. My point is though, where is the definitive proof that these celebrity ambassadors bring about change? The security and cost of bringing them there must be enormous. I would really like to know if this is outweighed by the results.

my parents and i were in a refugee camp on one of Philippine islands for 2 years, so i know from experience that any aid can be tremendously helpful. celebrities who bring light to complex issues, especially foreign issues, put pressure on authorities, whoever them may be, to make more progress. things can't be fixed with the snap of anyone's finger but i can be moved along further. i believe that is Brad and Angie's intent: Progress not a quick fix.

Whilst I understand peoples admiration for her work with the UN. I actually don't really see the point of celebrity ambassadors. Sure, more people now know that Bosnia still has many displaced people but what does this mean in concrete terms? Are Americans going to give more aid to Bosnia? Will the govt change it's attitude to refugees? I don't think so. The UN impedes a lot of aid agencies in their efforts. Look at what happened in Haiti. I know from friends in MSF that they find them an increasingly ineffectual organisation. Perhaps they too are dazzled by rubbing shoulders with the famous and good looking. Not to take anything away from what these two are doing as they obviously believe in it and put their money where their mouth is. I just wonder about how effective it really is.

^ ITAWY. Publicity why? They certainly do not need publicity. That is one of many reasons why most of you are here. The Jolie-Pitt are irresistible to most people. Their family, their life everything. Angelina takes her humanitarian work very seriously and she would like to make a difference. If that difference is putting herself out there to open your eyes to the plight of the less fortunate so be it. From the sarcastic and nasty remarks to one like ANYA82 which is very profound. It all makes a difference you LOOKED and was inspired to leave a message and THINK. Like someone said before: I rather read about Angelina than some other celebrity shopping.

they are bringing awareness to people in Bosnian, who have been displaced and forgotten about for 15 years. of course it would go over the heads of those who are not charitable. it's for people who want to help others. do haters read at all?

It's silly when people claim that these trips are publicity stunts. She's been doing charity work like this since the late '90s. That's an awfully long, and committed publicity stunt. lulz Anyway, I like their humanitarian efforts. It's nice to know that people care.

^someone reading comprehension is shot because i was making a comparison between behaviors that are admirable and behaviors are not, oppose to what crazies label them. Maniston fanatics need to learn how to take in what the whole paragraph is saying, not just the cheat jabs.

there are pictures and other forms of media coverage because bradgelina is bring awareness to this issue. if you wanna hate, at least read the article attached, it should give you more material to work with. and yeah, Angelina is such a shankie psycho for always wearing black or gray from head to toe and dividing her time between work, family and charity work. But a certain aging actress can run around town, dressed like Mariah Carey, and get fingered publicly by her friend with benefits. Now that is classy, rite? rite....haters are pathetic loons
