During their visit to Ireland in July, the couple were asked by a woman in the crowd, "When are you going to have kids?" She continued, saying, "My husband also has red hair, and he gave me five children — when are you and Meghan going to get going?" Harry, always the good sport, replied "Five children? Too many!"

In 2016, Meghan opened up to Lifestyle magazine about her life, career, and future family. "I also dream to have a family," she explained. "It's all about balance, and I have so much happiness in my career and am fortunate to travel the world and see so many amazing things — it will also be nice to be anchored to something grounded and in the same place." She continued, saying that "Raising a family will be a wonderful part of that."

Babies were once again on everybody's mind when Harry and Meghan met with a couple that create innovative and hypoallergenic baby products during their trip to Northern Ireland. During the exchange with the creators, Sinead and Adam Murphy, Meghan said, whilst pointing at one of the items, "I'm sure at some point we'll need the whole thing."

Following the announcement that Meghan is pregnant, Sky News shared a clip from 2015 that shows Prince Harry talking about kids: "I don't think you can force these things, it will happen when it's going to happen. Of course, I'd love to have kids right now, but there's a process that one has to go through." He continued, saying "It would be great to have someone else next to me, but the time will come. Whatever happens, happens."
