Simone Biles is home after competing in the Tokyo Olympics [1]! On Aug. 5, the 24-year-old gymnast shared photos of her touching Houston reunion [2] with her mom Nellie and dad Ron on Instagram. "Houston, I'm home," she captioned the post, thanking United Airlines for making it possible. "Thanks for making sure I didn't have to wait one more minute to see my family." Her parents weren't the only ones waiting, as Simone's return was met with a large crowd of friends, family, and fans alike [3]. Even her dog Rambo got in on the action, patiently waiting for Simone's arrival [4].
After a tough goodbye with her parents [5], who weren't able to be in Tokyo due to COVID-19 restrictions, Simone battled the "twisties" [6] at the Olympics before ultimately taking home a silver [7] and a bronze [8]. "It was super emotional. It was hard for her family not to be there [9] in Tokyo, so now that we can hug her and physically touch her, it's really nice," Simone's sister Adria told KPRC-TV. "Proud is an understatement. She is so amazing and I don't think people put their mental health in front like a priority [10]. I'm so glad she can inspire people and tell them that it's OK."
