On Feb. 23, professional golfer Tiger Woods was injured in a one-car rollover accident in Los Angeles. According to the LA County Sheriff's Department [2], the 45-year-old was transported to a local hospital via ambulance after being removed from the car using the "jaws of life" tool. According to an initial statement from his agent [3], Mark Steinberg, Tiger suffered multiple leg injuries. "He is currently in surgery [4]," Mark told Golf Digest. "And we thank you for your privacy and support."

The magazine also reported that Tiger was in California for a two-day content shoot with Golf Digest and GolfTV. While the outlet said Tiger "was in good spirits on Monday," the golfer did not arrive for the second day of shooting.

During a press conference later that day, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said there was no "evidence of impairment [5]" when authorities arrived on the scene and LA County Fire Chief Daryl Osby clarified that the "jaws of life" were not used to remove him from the vehicle, but rather a halligan tool and an axe.

On Tuesday evening, an official statment was posted to Tiger's Twitter [10] confirming he'd suffered "comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula." The statement then went on to say that he had undergone "a long surgical procedure on his lower right leg and ankle" and was "awake, responsive, and recovering in his hospital room."
