Everyone Anya Taylor-Joy Has Been Linked to — Including Rumored Husband Malcolm McRae

Anya Taylor-Joy has been in increasingly high demand over the past few years. The 26-year-old's star began to rise with roles in projects like "The Witch," "Split," "Glass," "Peaky Blinders," and "The Queen's Gambit." She's also starred in movies like "Thoroughbreds," "Emma," "The New Mutants," "The Northman," "The Menu," and "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," and she's also been cast as Furiosa in the highly anticipated "Mad Max: Fury Road" prequel.

Over the years, Taylor-Joy has mostly kept her dating life low-key, though details have emerged here and there. In 2018, before "The Queen's Gambit" made her a household name, Taylor-Joy told The Guardian that she purposely chooses not to share too much about her personal life. "There's a beauty in being anonymous," she said. "There's a reason why we're actors, we're playing other people so I think the idea of someone being interested in me, I'm quite a private person, is a bit daunting but I try not to think about it."

To date, the actor has only dated a few men publicly, though most of those relationships were still kept under wraps. Currently, Taylor-Joy is in a relationship with musician and actor Malcolm McRae, whom she's been linked to since May 2021. Aside from their handful of public appearances, Taylor-Joy has rarely spoken about McRae in interviews, though she did briefly mention him (not by name) in her cover story for British Vogue, published on March 23, 2022.

"I said to my partner the other day that he was my hobby," she told the outlet. "I see reading as something that I have to do. . . . He loved it because he's the same. I've finally found someone who will happily sit in silence with me reading. We're basically 80 years old and seven at the same time and it works really well."

On Oct. 2, the Daily Mail reported that Taylor-Joy and McRae had tied the knot in Venice in late September and published photos from the wedding. Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR's request for comment.

Details around Taylor-Joy's relationship with Macken are pretty scarce, but it's believed that she first met the Irish actor while they were filming their 2018 short film, "Crossmaglen." In November 2016, Macken gave his costar a sweet shoutout on Instagram, writing, "Every now and again you work with people that transcend how you see things. @anyataylorjoy is one of those people — this girl got skills." It's unclear when the two started dating, but they posted several affectionate-looking photos on Instagram in the summer of 2017.

In December of that year, the former couple was spotted kissing outside of a restaurant in Philadelphia, and it was even rumored the two might have been engaged due to the sizable piece of jewelry spotted on Taylor-Joy's left ring finger.

In August 2018, around the same time Taylor-Joy was announced to star in "Here Are the Young Men," she was seen not wearing her alleged engagement ring. It's unclear what happened between the two actors, but Macken has since deleted several (though not all) pictures of Taylor-Joy from his Instagram page.

Much is unknown about the possible relationship between Taylor-Joy and Seed, but the two were romantically linked in May 2020 when they were spotted out on a stroll together amid the London lockdown. Taylor-Joy had previously modeled for the photographer, but they didn't seem to last long as a couple (if they were ever even together). Seed disappeared after awhile, so many were left to wonder what happened between him and Taylor-Joy.

Taylor-Joy and McRae sparked dating rumors in May 2021 when they were spotted kissing and holding hands in New York City ahead of the former's "Saturday Night Live" hosting debut. At first, the "Last Night in Soho" actor was slow to confirm their relationship, though she mentioned she had a new partner in her life in her April 2021 interview with Elle. "My partner's just come back from work, and he's moving around all of his equipment, so this was the safe spot," she explained about why she was doing the interview from her bathroom.

The first public mention of their relationship came in July 2021, when McRae posted a photo of Taylor-Joy on Instagram with the caption, "I'm besotted." In September 2021, the couple was photographed kissing again on a hotel balcony in Venice, Italy, Daily Mail reported.

The two also made headlines in March 2022 when they made their red carpet debut at Vanity Fair's Oscars afterparty. A month later, Taylor-Joy brought McRae as her date to the "The Northman" premiere. Since then, they've shared quite a few Instagram photos of each other and also adopted a cat together.

Taylor-Joy and McRae sparked engagement rumors in June 2022 when the former was photographed sporting a sparkling rock on her ring finger, per Daily Mail. The following month, a source told Page Six that the couple reportedly got secretly married in a courthouse wedding, though neither has confirmed the news.
