Calvin Harris and Zayn Malik Are in a Twitter Feud Over Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus

We definitely weren't expecting Calvin Harris to feud with a (former) member of One Direction, but that's exactly what happened on Monday when the DJ swooped in to defend his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, in a slightly confusing Twitter feud. Zayn Malik, who left One Direction back in March, retweeted a series of photos that seemed to compare Taylor's decision to pull her music from Spotify (and her open letter urging Apple Music to pay musicians during a three-month user trial) with a recent Miley Cyrus quote that read, "I've made my money. If no one buys my album, it's cool. It's fine. . . I don't need anything else."

Zayn followed up the retweet by seemingly referring to Miley's quote as a "G statement," which did not sit well with Taylor's current beau, Calvin. He responded with, "You've made your money? Cool. . . f*ck the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah f*ck them."

@FemaleTexts @zaynmalik You've made your money? Cool...fuck the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah fuck em

Whoa. He then served up some education to Zayn and advised him to "stay out of" his mentions (we can't seem to find where Zayn mentioned Calvin).

If u don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry...

— Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) August 17, 2015

...stay out my fuckin mentions pls

Calvin went on to mention the Teen Choice Awards (One Direction took home eight of them on Sunday night), and alluded that he's been in his basement making your new favorite record:

While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there's some poor fucker in a basement making your new favorite record trying to survive

Zayn told Calvin that he made a fool out of himself . . .

@CalvinHarris ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate

— zayn (@zaynmalik) August 17, 2015

@CalvinHarris you clearly didn't understand what I just said either

— zayn (@zaynmalik) August 17, 2015

. . . Then implied that Calvin wears knickers and dentures! WTF?

@CalvinHarris so i suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out

After that, Calvin tried to get the conversation back on track by clarifying his original tweets:

@zaynmalik all good, it was the quote not you personally mate

— Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) August 17, 2015

To which Zayn replied:

Oh and I write my own shit too dickhead

— zayn (@zaynmalik) August 17, 2015

Calvin threw out an "lol" and ended everything with a compliment:

@zaynmalik best of luck, genuinely. You've got a great voice

If this is anything like Taylor's recent exchange with Nicki Minaj, we can probably look forward to an onstage invitation at the VMAs, a couple of public apologies, and maybe even a comment from Katy Perry.
