6 Horror Movies From the '90s That Are Actually Worth Watching on Netflix

Oct 9 2016 - 2:45pm

If Netflix had a "search by year" function, mine would permanently be set to the '90s. The streaming site has so many modern horror movies available [1], but the vast majority of them, well, aren't good. I mean, you could definitely watch Sharknado again, or you could dive into one of these six horror movies from the best (and possibly cheesiest) film decade. Take a look!

The Relic

If you've always been on the opinion that Night at the Museum would be better as a horror movie, The Relic is for you.

From Dusk Till Dawn

George Clooney [4] was still rocking his Caesar 'cut when he starred in Robert Rodriguez's iconic vampire movie.

Sleepy Hollow

If you love the hit TV show, you should definitely check out Tim Burton's take on the classic Washington Irving tale.

Scream 2

Are sequels always worse than the original? Definitely not! With these slasher flicks, the terror only gets better and the gore gets gorier. Try not to let Ghostface haunt your dreams.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare

Though this 1994 sequel lacks Johnny Depp [9], it extends Freddy's legacy way past the initial movie. The villain is back, and he's pissed. Get ready for 1994 special effects and TV-movie-level acting.

Event Horizon

The space horror is reminiscent of hits like Alien and Solaris, but it doesn't get as much credit. Sam Neill leads a cast that includes Laurence Fishburne and Kathleen Quinlan in this quietly tense thriller.
