ABC Picks Up New Medical Drama From Shonda Rhimes Called Off The Map

Shonda Rhimes Is Moving Off the Map

Shonda Rhimes — better known as the creator of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice — is going for a medical drama hat trick. ABC has ordered a new pilot, tentatively titled Off The Map that follows three doctors to a medical clinic in an exotic location. (Temptation Island for doctors, anyone?)

I don't know how many seasons the aging Grey's has left, so it's no surprise that Rhimes is planning ahead and putting down fresh roots. She clearly knows how to stick with what she knows, but I still wouldn't mind seeing some of her lovable characters on a different career path.

Are you excited about a new med drama, or is your TV schedule too full to add one more?

It's amusing to me that she writes all these medical shows when SHE HAS NO IDEA ABOUT MEDICINE! All the plotlines are so ridiculous, even for tv. Will the Chief of Surgery run the entire hospital on her new show as well?

Can this woman seriously think of no other ideas? Come on. At least change the profession from doctors to something else -- you would still be able to use the same soap-operatic, contrived formula we all know and love, but just do something that's at least a little different. Then maybe I would watch.

I swear, if she does more crossovers with Grey's, I really will be done.
