Have to say I think casting Tyler Perry in this role was a mistake - I haven't seen the movie yet and I could be totally off base on this but not only will this movie suffer from the bad casting issue (although I love TP in his Madea movies and think he's very funny)  but it's one of those movies that will suffer from the "CSI Syndrome" as well of every TV show coming out with ridiculous crime labs and over saturation of techniques used for crime detection.  I read these books and did see the first movie with Morgan Freeman (who was again badly cast as he was just too old for that role) but it was not well done and honestly it's just like watching CSI in movie format.  Hollywood has poisoned the waters with TV shows about profilers and crime labs to the point where you really have to have something special to overcome the malaise associated with seeing yet another crime drama/crime lab TV show or movie.  I wish them luck against the competition but I don't see them making a whole lot of money on this one.
