Anthony Mackie Will Lead the Cast of Altered Carbon Season 2 as Takeshi Kovacs

Altered Carbon's second season is officially in production, so Netflix figured what better way to celebrate that than by announcing which talented stars have joined the sci-fi series. Leading the charge is Anthony Mackie, who is stepping into the role of Takeshi Kovacs. The character is a former protectorate CTAC soldier who went on to become a revolutionary envoy and, finally, a mercenary for hire. Since the series takes place in a universe where humans' consciousness can be switched into different bodies (aka "sleeves"), Kovacs was played by three actors the first time around: Byron Mann, Will Yun Lee, and Joel Kinnaman. It'll be interesting to see how Mackie takes on the role, but he isn't the only familiar face you'll see in season two. Check out all the exciting additions, ahead.

The Avengers: Infinity War actor is leaving Marvel behind to play Kovacs, who will continue his quest to reconnect with Quellcrist Falconer no matter the odds.

Renee Elise Goldsberry as Quellcrist Falconer

The Hamilton alum is reprising her role as Quell, who Netflix describes as "a fierce revolutionary leader with a deep bond to Takeshi Kovacs, [she] is driven by her desire to reset the balance between life and death."

Chris Conner as Poe

The highly evolved AI is one of Kovacs's only loyal companions. In season two, Poe will question "what it means to be human," according to the character's official description.

Simone Missick as Trepp

Now that Luke Cage has been canceled, Missick is on board Altered Carbon as Trepp, a bounty hunter who will hunt down just about anyone and anything for the right price.

Dina Shihabi as Dig 301

Like Poe, Dig is an AI, but she was specifically programmed to help archeologists. When she crosses paths with Poe, she finds a new purpose.

Torben Liebrecht as Colonel Carrera

The Operation Finale actor plays "the dogged leader of a Protectorate Special Forces unit known as the 'Wedge'" and has dedicated his life to hunting down Kovacs.

James Saito as Tanaseda Hideki

Saito is playing a Yakuza boss who's ruled for centuries, controlling organized crime on the planet of Harlan's World. It just so happens he also shares a mysterious history with Kovacs.
