It's almost time to set sights on the holiday season, and who better to usher [1] us in than Aretha Franklin? Though the powerful icon passed away in August [2], one of her old Christmas covers has been newly released, with an incredible twist. Franklin originally recorded the "Silent Night" rendition back in 2008 with full orchestration and background vocals. This new version is much more simple: just a piano and the undeniable power of our late Queen of Soul. The stripped-down version will be included on an upcoming vinyl issue [3] of Franklin's holiday-themed album, This Christmas. Listen above and let her dream voice carry you away.
