Avatar Is the No. 1 Spot at the Box Office For the Fourth Weekend in a Row

Box Office: Avatar Is Still Raking It In

No surprise here: Avatar topped the box office for its fourth straight week in a row, a feat that hasn't happened since 2008's The Dark Knight. The film took in $48.5 million for the No. 1 spot, but also saw its biggest sales dip yet with a 29 percent decrease from last week's numbers.

Sherlock Holmes came in second yet again with $16.6 million, followed by Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel with $16.3 million.

The majority of you said you were interested in seeing the vampire flick Daybreakers, and it proved to be the most promising of the weekend's debuts with $15 million for fourth place. It's Complicated came in fifth with $11 million.

Other newcomers Leap Year and Youth in Revolt didn't fare as well. The Amy Adams vehicle took in $9 million for a No. 6 spot, while the latter made $7 million for a disappointing No. 9 finish.

I saw avatar in 3D and it was truly amazing! Even if you don't like the movie's story line, go to see it in 3D because the effects are eye-popping!

i can't believe that avatar is STILL making that kind of money. not many movies make that much in their 4th week. i agree though - cause the dip in sales really isn't that much compared to what it's making. honestly- what i've said all along, that if JC was able to raise the kind of money that he did for this movie - then he needs to work for the government and if they are able to rake in this kind of money - well then there's something good going with the economy.

I love how you make 29% drop sound like its a huge disappointment. Sherlock Holmes was 54.6% down from last week and its been out only 17 days. In reality, that drop is an incredible feat after a month-
