15 Amazon Original TV Shows You've Been Overlooking This Whole Time

Set in the late 1950s, this hilarious comedy series tells the story of a pampered Upper West Side housewife who — after discovering her husband's infidelity — discovers that she has a secret of her own: she has a real knack for stand-up comedy. You can also be rest assured that Midge and the gang will return for a fourth season, as the show was renewed less than a week after season three aired.

Based on the podcast of the same name created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, Julia Roberts stars in this psychological thriller as a former caseworker at Homecoming Transitional Support Center, a live-in government-run facility that supposedly helps soldiers adjust back to normal life, though years after leaving, she realizes the facility may not be exactly what it seems. Though Roberts won't be returning for season two, the series still has a two-season commitment, so you can definitely expect more.

Created by House creator David Shore and Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, this crime drama tells the story of a recently released con man who decides to assume the identity of his old cell mate, Pete, in order to avoid all the trouble he left behind — especially the ruthless gangster (played by Cranston) who's on his tail. Sadly, the series ended after a three-season run, but all three seasons are still available to stream.

This sci-fi series — which is based on the works of author Philip K. Dick — is perfect for fans of Black Mirror, as it presents 10 standalone episodes all centered around the idea of challenging reality and questioning whether artificial intelligence is a major feat or a terrible threat. It still hasn't been confirmed whether the show will return for a second season, but we're holding out hope!

In this dystopian series based loosely on the work of Philip K. Dick, an alternate reality is presented, one in which America lost World War II to the Axis powers and the country is divided into three parts: the Nazi-controlled East, the Japanese-controlled West, and the buffer zone down the middle. It is in this middle section that mysterious films begin to circulate, spreading hope that a different world may exist, one in which America is free. The latest season to premiere was also unfortunately the show's last, but at least you can binge all four seasons at once!

In this legal drama starring Billy Bob Thornton, a formerly brilliant but now disgraced lawyer desperately tries to redeem himself after a murder suspect he got acquitted on a technicality ends up killing an entire family. It's been confirmed that the series is returning for a fourth installment, but unfortunately, the fourth season will also be the show's final season.

Based on Michael Connelly's bestselling novels, this crime series follows Harry Bosch (played by Sons of Anarchy star Titus Welliver), a veteran Los Angeles homicide detective who he finds himself in constant conflict with authority in his tireless pursuit of justice. Amazon's longest running series has already been renewed for its sixth season, though we're not sure when you can expect to see that sixth season premiere.

Based on the series by author Tom Clancy, John Krasinski stars in this action-packed series as the titular Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst who is pulled away from the safety of his desk job after he discovers some questionable bank transfers and given a dangerous field assignment, putting him on the front line in the fight against terrorism. The show was already renewed for a third season before the second season premiered, so you can expect to see more of Jack Ryan soon enough.

This poignant series revolves around a retired college professor who reveals to her three adult children that — though she was assigned male at birth — she identifies as a woman. After it was announced that star Jeffrey Tambor wouldn't be returning for its fifth season following several sexual harassment accusations, the series decided to end with a two-hour musical finale rather than a full fifth season, and while the special didn't sit well with audiences, the first four seasons still make for amazing television.

Based on the book of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, this quirky fantasy miniseries tells the story of a fastidious angel and a reckless devil (played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, respectively), who must reluctantly pair up to find the missing Antichrist and save the world from the approaching Armageddon. Jon Hamm also stars as Archangel Gabriel, and while this one was only supposed to last for one season, there's a chance we could see more.

Based on the New York Times column of the same name, this anthology series tells several stand-alone stories of love, heartbreak, and second chances, all set against the backdrop of NYC. The A-list cast includes Tina Fey, Julia Garner, Anne Hathaway, Dev Patel, Andrew Scott, and John Slattery, among many others, and while it's unlikely, we're holding out hope that we'll get a second installment.

This unique dark comedy series tells the story of super-influential superheroes who — rather than using their powers for good — decide to use their powers for personal gain, which is made possible with the help of a multibillion-dollar conglomerate that covers up all the heroes' secrets. The Boys has been renewed for a second season, so we'll get to watch the battle between the powerful and the powerless continue.

Starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, this dark fantasy series tells the story of what happens after the homelands of mythological immigrant creatures are invaded by empires of man, forcing them to coexist with humans. The show has been renewed for a second season, so you'll get to see even more unsolved murders and class warfare.

This reboot of Joe Wright's 2011 action flick of the same name stars Esme Creed-Miles as the titular Hanna, a young woman who has spent her entire life in the secluded wilderness of northern Finland to be trained as a ruthless assassin by her father, Erik, a hardened and intuitive ex-CIA operative from Germany. Soon after its debut, this thrilling series was renewed for a second season, though we're not yet sure when to expect that second installment.
