10 Friends Episodes That Make Me Laugh My Ass Off Every Time

If there was ever a show I was devoted to watching in my high school years, Friends is hands-down at the top of the list. The sitcom, which followed the lives of a tight-knit crew in New York City, wasn't exactly relatable during my teenage years, but I can appreciate it even more after having lived in New York myself in my early 20s and navigated things like the challenges of dating in the city or how to keep your social life afloat when your friends make way more money than you do.

It's been 25 years since the show's series premiere aired in 1994, and it's still one of those shows I'll never get tired of watching. (And it's streaming on Netflix through 2020.) It's hard to narrow the best episodes down to 10, but read on to see which ones I still can't get enough of. From many of Ross's embarrassing moments to examples of Monica's competitive streak, I bet anything you'll be quoting lines from these memorable scenes before the clips even end.

Season 3, Episode 2: "The One Where No One's Ready"

In this episode, Ross grows irritated with the rest of the gang when they're pressed for time to get to a formal event at the museum, yet everyone is taking forever to get ready. Meanwhile, Chandler and Joey are having a disagreement about personal space in their apartment, leading to Chandler stealing all of his underwear. Joey retaliates by putting on all of Chandler's clothes at once, proclaiming, "I'm Chandler. Could I BE wearing any more clothes? Maybe if I weren't going commando!"

Season 4, Episode 12: "The One With the Embryos"

As the episode title suggests, the plot of this episode revolves around the fact that Phoebe has her brother and sister-in-law's embryos implanted to serve as their surrogate. Meanwhile, Rachel and Monica engage in a trivia game against Chandler and Joey to see which of the two teams know the other better. It ultimately leads to Monica betting their amazing New York City apartment. They ultimately lose when they can't identify what Chandler does for a living, with Rachel impulsively guessing he's a "transpondster."

Season 4, Episode 15: "The One With All the Rugby"

This episode's title comes from the storyline in which Ross takes up rugby to impress his English girlfriend, Emily. But the truly unforgettable moment is when Chandler can't figure out how to cut ties with his obnoxious ex-girlfriend, Janice, so he tells her he has to move to Yemen within the next few days. He takes the ruse as far as boarding a plane in front of her, leaving her with the address to write to him as "15 Yemen Road, Yemen."

Season 5, Episode 11: "The One With All the Resolutions"

Everyone decides to set New Year's resolutions in this episode, and one of Ross's is to try new things. This includes wearing leather pants on a date. He quickly realizes they're not so comfortable after he finds himself overheating on her leather couch, and then unable to get the pants back on after briefly seeking relief (and calling Joey for help) in the bathroom.

Season 5, Episode 16: "The One With the Cop"

The name of this episode comes from when Phoebe finds a police badge in the park and goes on a bit of a power spree, but what makes this one memorable is when Ross buys a new couch and refuses to have it delivered. Instead, he, Chandler, and Rachel attempt to maneuver it up his apartment building's staircase on their own. Who could forget Ross screaming "PIVOT!" before the couch gets stuck and he has to cut it in half to get it out? (Side note: I can relate to this plot line all too well, having had a similar experience that involved dismantling an IKEA bed frame in a stairwell when moving apartments in New York City.)

Season 6, Episode 7: "The One Where Phoebe Runs"

When Rachel and Phoebe decide to start jogging together, Rachel is quickly embarrassed to be seen running together, since Phoebe's form is as carefree as a kid running across a playground. As a long-distance runner myself, I especially appreciate this episode (though I definitely question a few things about it, like how Rachel could possibly run with her hair down).

Season 6, Episode 8: "The One With Ross's Teeth"

This episode came out at the height of my high school years, when Crest Whitestrips and other teeth-whitening methods were all the rage. Ross showed us exactly what not to do (i.e., leave a whitening treatment on for a whole day rather than the recommended hour or so), and I still die laughing every time I rewatch the scene where his blindingly white teeth glow in the dark under his date's black light.

Season 6, Episode 9: "The One Where Ross Got High"

When Monica reveals that she hasn't told her parents she and Chandler are living together, he tries to win them over when they come over for Thanksgiving dinner. We later learn it's because seemingly perfect Ross blamed Chandler when his parents caught him smoking pot in college, but what truly makes this episode hysterical is when Rachel is given dessert-making responsibilities and inadvertently makes an English trifle with berries and beef after not realizing her cookbook's pages are stuck together. Everyone's first-taste reactions and attempts to pretend they like it are beyond hilarious.

Season 7, Episode 15: "The One With Joey's New Brain"

Way back in season two, Joey angers the writers of Days of Our Lives by telling reporters that he had come up with most of his own lines. This prompts them to kill off his character, Dr. Drake Ramoray, by having him fall down an elevator shaft. Fast-forward to this this episode, where Joey finds out Dr. Drake Ramoray will awaken from a coma after receiving a brain transplant from a woman played by Susan Sarandon (who doesn't know she's about to be killed off herself).

Season 10, Episode 3: "The One With Ross's Tan"

When Ross becomes envious of Monica's new spray tan, he decides to try it out for himself. His experience doesn't go as smoothly, however, as he ends up four times darker than he wanted on one side of his body after deciding to count "Mississippily" before switching sides.
