20 of the Most Empowering, Badass Verses From Beyoncé's Lemonade

May 4 2016 - 9:00pm

Beyoncé's mysterious HBO special, Lemonade, premiered on Saturday night, and while we really didn't know what to expect going into it, we couldn't be happier with the end result. The "visual album," which is now available on iTunes [1], not only made celebrities lose their minds [2], but we also can't stop listening to every track on repeat and obsessing over the jaw-dropping imagery [3] from the hour-long special. In addition to revealing exactly why she named her latest album Lemonade [4] through her lyrics and emotional voiceovers, Beyoncé also hinted at possible infidelity in her marriage to Jay Z [5]. But heartbreak aside, there is so much power on this album that it's almost too much to handle. Keep reading for Lemonade's most badass lyrics.

"Who the f*ck do you think I am / You ain't married to no average b*tch, boy / You can watch my fat ass twist, boy / As I bounce to the next d*ck, boy / And keep your money, I got my own / Got a bigger smile on my face, being alone."

Song: "Don't Hurt Yourself"

"I don't want to lose my pride, but I'ma f*ck me up a b*tch / Know that I kept it sexy, know that I kept it fun / There's something that I'm missing, maybe my head for one."

Song: "Hold Up"

"What's worse, lookin' jealous or crazy, jealous or crazy / Or like being walked all over lately, walked all over lately / I'd rather be crazy."

Song: "Freedom"

"But I ain't f*cking with nobody / Let's have a toast to the good life / Suicide before you see this tear fall down my eyes / Me and my baby, we gon' be all right / We gon' live a good life / Big homie better grow up / Me and my whoadis 'bout to stroll up / I see them boppers in the corner / They sneaking out the back door / He only want me when I'm not there / He better call Becky with the good hair."

Song: "Sorry"

"Freedom! Freedom! I can't move / Freedom, cut me loose / Singin' 'Freedom! Freedom! Where are you' / Cause I need freedom too / I break chains all by myself / Won't let my freedom rot in hell / Hey! I'ma keep running / Cause a winner don't quit on themselves."

Song: "Freedom"
