We've speculated and theorized [1] about the fifth season of Black Mirror since the confirmed renewal [2] over a year ago; but now the trailer is finally here, so we can all, once again, question humanity and our future on this planet.
The new season is made up of three episodes, available June 5 on Netflix [3], and features Miley Cyrus [4], Anthony Mackie, and Topher Grace [5], to name a few. Since it's practically been an eternity since the last season, we are so ready for the latest installment and particularly Cyrus's character. She gave us a snippet of her role and described it as a "head shaking project." [6] After watching the trailer, I believe it, because I want to throw my phone out the f*cking window.
So what can we expect from the new episodes? Essentially, an unsettling relationship with our cell phones. In a press release, the producers explained, "Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm — a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone — a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us." Sounds unnerving, and we're here for it. Mark your calendars for June 5, people, because it's going to be an intense ride.
