New Summer Books That Would Make Great Movies and TV Shows

Falling in love with a brand-new book is great, but it's extra fun when your favorite page-turners make their way to the big screen. For my monthly POPSUGAR Book Club Instagram series, I shared some recent reads that would make for great movies and TV shows. Behind each pick are complicated characters, surprising plot twists, sharp dialogue, and a can't-put-it-down quality that would translate to a suspenseful story on screen. All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin

All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin

All We Ever Wanted, the new bestseller by Emily Giffin, tells the story of Nina Browning, a woman who seems to have it all. After her son shares a social media post with some serious consequences, though, things get complicated for everyone involved, and Nina's forced to reevaluate her relationships. I can definitely see this novel becoming the next binge-worthy miniseries — something like Big Little Lies — and I'd love to see someone like Gwyneth Paltrow or Cate Blanchett play Nina.

Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering

Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering

Carola Lovering's novel Tell Me Lies captures the raw vulnerability and addictive love within a toxic young relationship. When Lucy goes to collage and meets the very charming and complicated Stephen DeMarco, she senses that something feels off, but she can't quite turn away. It's a dark, sometimes devastating coming-of-age story, and I'd like to see how Lucy and Stephen's dynamic might translate on screen. As for which actress might be able to do Lucy's story justice? I'd pick Riverdale star Lili Reinhart, who's no stranger to playing a nuanced young woman.

When Katie Met Cassidy by Camille Perri

When Katie Met Cassidy by Camille Perri

As you probably assumed, the title of Camille Perri's new book, When Katie Met Cassidy, is a nod to When Harry Met Sally — a classic rom-com if there ever was one. Perri's book reads like a rom-com itself, and the fun, sweet story about love and sexuality is one I'd love to see on the big screen. As for the leading roles, there are plenty of young actresses who could step into Katie and Cassidy's shoes, but Emma Stone comes to mind as someone who could bring either character to life.
